What did you do to your E28 today?

Finally got to replacing the my coolant tee with a nice brass barbed fitting. Was able to clean my coolant hose connections and tighten all of the fittings up. Hoping for no leaks when I flush and fill this evening.

...and when it comes time to work on the newer one, then what?

My wife knows these kinds of things keep me out of trouble, and is cheaper than a couple of previous time consumers.
Or at least it has been, we'll see about these ///M addic..., err... additions.

Another replacement fuel pump relay within a year, but oh how nice when the intermittent problems go away like night and day with one zero-tools part replacement.

Having a garage in which to keep said queen is usually a prerequisite. I really don't want to move though.

That's way too much money for that car unless it has serious documentation. And, speaking as someone who has been through the garage queen purchase process lately, E34s don't move the soul quite the way E28s and even E24s do.

Tell me about it. I drove my eta today for the first time in months... Even in its current state, it's so much more fun to drive than the e32 (Dave's mind drifts, thinking of ways to justify keeping the car just for play...)

Yesterday, in the 96* garage, I managed to get my new AC belt installed. Got a 10.5x815 and it slipped on and tightened right up! Love that cold R12 blowing in my face. Also managed to get into my trunk...turns out, my 2 spare keys are trunk keys only. Go figure. Then I moved on to my faulty window switch for the passenger front. Took it apart, cleaned the contacts. She works good now, but probably will fail again in the near future. Either way, I felt accomplished for an afternoon off.

Rebuilt the half shafts. At my Kitchen table.

I don't know which is more miraculous. Me getting the job done, or Heather not batting an eye when i told her where i was going to do it.

Tuesday she'll get the newly rebuilt replacement.

Finally got around to changing the oil. Man I'm not sure when that was done last. I also managed to convince the in laws and fiance to let me drive it to Outback for dinner. My in laws were causing the rear tires to rub. Guess I need to roll them suckers a little for these Miglias to fit right.

Replaced water pump, thermostat and radiator.

Only took me 2 nights and most of the day yesterday to remove the broken water pump bolt.

Bled the system per the FAQ, so we'll see if all the air is out of it.

Most importantly, no leaks! Back on the road!

The new (rebuilt) alternator was FREE.
I took in a known bad one to swap as the core, and turns out
it had a sticker on it identifying it as one of there's.
No receipt or anything and the parts guy said "No problemo, even exchange".

Gonna be installing it tomorrow and put the known good spare back in it's travel box.

Now I know why it was free, it only puts out 11.76 volts.

It's coming back out and I'm heading back to the store.

Oh yeah, it's only about 100° out there right now.

Drove it to it's first (minor) get together. Was good to meet jakeb and his wife. And man, that ls1 is sweet in the bay of an e28. Great work!

I was surprised at the attention that my ratty old bone stock 535is got from some folks. Someone even took pictures of it.

Good times. I'm lovin my e28.

Took it in for its biannual smog test which it failed miserably. Just for extra fun they dinged the Euro headers as "Tampering" so it failed the visual too.
