I'm so glad things are going well for you. It looks like you have a beautiful bride who understands your automotive quirks, and you're out on the adventure that is life. Keep enjoying it- all of it not just the car.
I don't think I could have asked for a better buyer. Seeing what I started carried on is really meaningful to see because I also loved that car. I'd still own it had the ///M5 opportunity not arisen. Keep in touch and I expect periodic updates!
I appreciate it Rodney, I knew I had some big shoes to fill in doing the car justice and am trying my best. Due to other life changes, it has somewhat taken a back burner and I have let a few things go that will be getting addressed as soon as I get it to Arizona.
My wife is the best. When we first started dating, she was overwhelmed with the whole "car guy" lifestyle but learned that it was something I really enjoyed and she handles it all extremely well. I know plenty of car guys with wives who aren't as understanding as mine, so I know I lucked out.
I cant blame you for taking the M5 opportunity. The E28 M5 is one of those cars (in my mind) that I have always dreamed of, but will probably be out of my reach for a lonngggg time if the current market carries on.
The updates will be very slow from here on out. I visit the forum daily, try to read and keep up on all the happenings in the community, I just don't post very frequently. The car is in dry, covered storage so there is no rush to bring it out. I don't have anywhere to wrench, a massive lack of tools, plus my wife and I want to pay off the majority of our student loans before we proceed with any larger financial ventures, as in, base lining an E28 for daily driving duties.
So we will see. Who knows what the future holds. Again, appreciate all you've said Rodney!
Hey Garrett....long time no talk to...!! I noticed on one of your posts that your location changed and now I see the story. Congrats on the wedding (first and foremost), plus it sounds like you two are kicking off the rest of your lives together in fine style
I am genuinely happy for the both of you. (note to the board: I can't describe just how nice these two were when we met that slightly chilly winter day....mom too... They just seem to be exceptional people...)
I still lurk the site, hoping the supply and demand planets align so I too can finally own an e28. All good things come to those who wait I guess....at least that's the line of shit I've been trying to sell myself for years now...haha...
Great car...looks fantastic. In a sad way I'm glad it didn't work out for me (buying your car...) although like I stated before....I damn sure missed a good 'un...
Now, should you need someone to blow the cobwebs out of it...ahem...I mean, if you need someone to take it out just to keep the fluids moving and the bushings pliable, (or maybe to deliver it to AZ....) know where to find me.
Anyway...I saw this pop up and just had to post a note. Best wishes to both of you...!!!!
Whoa, I'm honored to hear such kind words, its also good to see you hanging around these parts still!
I too am glad that I ended up not selling the car, but I am glad that someone of your stature would have potentially taken ownership.
My in-laws actually moved in just down the street from you and I use to pass your house every once and while and always wanted to stop, but could never work it out. I use to love seeing the touring in your driveway (thing is too cool!) and always wondered what would have happened if it was my old E28 I use to see there instead. Would have been torture
And if you want to take it for a spin, you know where to find it! It is in the corner of my dads garage, and I'm guessing its behind two other cars. it would take some work to get it out, but if you show up with a six pack of Corona, I'm sure my dad would be more than glad to help! I always tell everyone, you can drive it, if you break it no biggie, but please don't wreck it, that's all I ask.
Also, if you happen to be looking for an E28 and find one in the valley of the sun, Id be glad to check it out for ya!
I have been dealing with some severe family issues and haven't been on MYE28 in awhile...
This was the first note I read just now upon returning. Thank you for reminding me what this whole E28 thing is all about. Your wife is a keeper; clearly someone who supports you and lifts you up. If you can do the same for her, you will have a gloriously happy life together. So far, so good! Good luck in your new home!
Glad we could help give you a warm welcome back and thank you for the kind words. My wife is pretty great, I really hit the jackpot. I have been told on more than one occasion that I have really "out kicked my coverage".
Also, hope all is well with you and yours! Family trouble is not always fun
Welcome to AZ Garrett, I look forward to bumping into you sometime on the road neighbor
Thanks man! I know there are some MyE28 "heavy hitters" in the area and I look forward to crossing paths!
And based on how people drive here, I wouldn't be shocked at all to be bumped into
Very cool, glad it has worked out for you.
I like this car since it is a twin to my '85 Cosmo and has the same interior color and front airdam. You don't see the color very often either. Mine's not quite as pretty to look at, but is used more as a DD.
Glad to hear things have been going well and its great you are able to keep up with a few updates for the car.
Thanks man!
I must say, it wasn't my favorite color combination on E28s, but the rarity helps me appreciate it a little more. The paint has really taken a beating and I would love to respray it, but that is a massive undertaking that Im not totally prepared for.
I also enjoy reading your threads and think your E24 is the coolest. Always very informative.
Thanks for the kind words everyone! Knowing there are people out there who "get it" when it comes to E28s makes me feel a bit more normal. Sometimes I think my wife/other people think I'm crazy "yea I have an 30 year old five series in a garage in Ohio that I want to ship to the desert..."
