By all accounts that's a big negative, Dave. He just happened to pick an unfortunate handle and didn't know about the whole Ari fiasco. Hell, his real name isn't even Ari! (are-I-nuts, get it?). There was a thread about your very concern shortly after he started posting.

If you call Maximillian again, ask for Jim. He's the resident E28 guy there now that Paul has gone to the British-car fold. Knows his stuff.
My experiences in my previous life with buying from BavAuto have been pretty good.

I used to deal with a guy named Paul at Maximillan and it was all good. Then he went away to some other department, IIRC. Last time I bought, they shipped me too much of the wrong stuff- and charged me for it- and then wanted me to pay to send it back for credit. I just kept it and went elsewhere.
Mike the Green Hornet. Sent him a money order (albeit nervously as I didn't know him) for a set of New BBS rims. Extremely communicative, the rims were here in great time, exactly as ordered, Mike is an awesome guy, and his price on BBS was cheaper than everyone else online I researched prior ($20/rim cheaper than Strictly German who were the cheapest before I called Mike.. and believe me I shopped around for price).

He gets my full recommendation, excellent guy to deal with. And he's an E28 owner, you can't beat it!

Hmmmmm....when you posted this I thought you meant that you had helped a fellow board member out by offering some free parts.

Now I see that you didn't intend for them to be free. :(
That's a whole different story.

If he had asked for them free, I would have GLADLY given them, with no worries, they were not useable by me, but he offered to trade me a front strut housing, which I DESPERATELY needed at the time. I enthusiastically sent them off with the thought that this was a straight shooting group overall, this one person has caused me to re-think that. When I asked (via email) what was up, NOTHING, no response, just the lame excuse of moving and no time and wait wait wiat yadda yadda yadda. He is a lame prick as far as I am concerned.

Hey Guys,

I want to make a comment about a recent purchase I had with another member. Robert Anderson had listed a rear bumper for sale last week. The transaction was smooth and fast. He is quick to reply to emails. The bumper arrived on the day he said it would and the condition was exactly as described. I would do business with him again. Very good experience.

I first want to say thanks to Mike (mk), and that he was also very quick to respond to emails and also to send payment. A+ guy to deal with.

Thanks again

jeffhenderson9 at http://stores.ebay.com/eParts-Land_W0QQ ... esstQQtZkm has small parts for BMW, but my last experience with him is that he does not communicate at all! Doesn't answer Email, doesn't return phone calls and appears only to respond with unfavorable comments in the buyer/seller feedback forum, if you complain about his lack of communication. Small parts i purchased were okay, but lack of communication is unprofessional and unacceptable, to me.

Earlier this year. He was always "coming over" to drop off the money and then would never return calls after that. He did help me win the "Snipe" bid on the M5 when it was on ebay and I paid him a $500 fee for doing so, but after that he turned into a schmuck.

Big thanks to:

Steve Haygood for great prices and fast shipping...but mostly for the great advice on what to get! I got 4 brake rotors and pad sets, a new antennae, 2 rear control arm-to-axle carrier links, hood support struts, and driveshaft center bearing assembly. All for big bucks less than a "popular NH-based supplier".

Thanks also to ChrisM for an exhaust system I could never have afforded otherwise.

Jon in VA was great in getting a PERFECT driveshaft to me for less money than I could have had one rebuilt. In fact, this one had markings that make me believe it had just been rebuilt.

Bavarian Autosport has also been very good, especially with their exhaust & catalytic converter installation kits. Those had more hardware in them than I actually needed. I also got replacement Bosch fog lenses, no problem. Lots of nice little things you didn't know you could still get, on a good website. Pricey though. See Steve H. for best prices.

One caveat: the M8x1.25 nuts that Bav Auto put in the cat kit are a "one time" use kind that totally screw up the threads on the studs IF you can even get them off without breaking a stud.

I had to remove the exhaust system to put the driveshaft on and after just one week on the car, those nuts were stuck on the studs like they were welded.

Can't wait to get the car back together.

Bought an E28 diesel from Jim at Autobahnparts. Good guy to deal with. No disappointments on the car. He even when to the extent of sending me $$ to make up for a piece of equipment that was said to be on the car when we made the deal over the phone, but was missing upon arrival of the vehicle in Ohio. Couldn't ask for better treatment than that.

Robbie in San Diego

was a disappointing seller. Lousy communication and parts were not as I had
made clear I wanted to avoid. The parts were beautiful. There was NOTHING wrong with them. They just weren't what I was looking for. Must have liked them Ok since I did put them on. But shame on me for not getting pictures of the goods first.
Live and learn.

Steve Haygood

Buyer: (Me) complete idiot, had to have massive amounts of handholding and advice.

Seller: Steve Haygood, Parts delivered practically before they were ordered, exactly as desribed, and less expensive than quoted.
