ya right. it puts the paper on or else it gets the hose.

Like how you took the time around the fender gaps in the front. That has always been a tell-tale area of concern if the fenders have been off. It ruins the car without the work you did. This car is going to look awesome. Glad you didn't throw it in the dumpster.

Just finished spraying the last coat of primer at 5am this morning, I'm beat tired... Been a long day.

After many hours of cleaning, masking and more cleaning since Saturday afternoon I finally met my goal. I still need to prime the doors, fenders and hood.

That is a lot of work. (Understatement of the year.)

Keep on going, with the amount of effort and detail this should be an absolutely beautiful car once it's finished and extremely rewarding to drive ;)

Thanks guys, I still can't make up my mind on a color so I'll probably leave it in white sealer for a while. I want to build a nice SS exhaust for it soon and burn some rubber.

If you want to go for an original colour your best bet would likely be to locate an E24 brochure from '81 and see which ones were available then. Or keep it white (perhaps a little boring ;)). As for the internet solution; I'm going off Gábor's post on a Hungarian forum, found here.

My personal taste would say Burgundrot or Lapisblau but of course that is due to a personal preference for darker blue/red colours. I was also wondering how a darker green colour like Achatgrün would suit the E24.

Not doing it black would be a crime, after all your hard work on getting it flat. I'm a sucker for silver though. Maybe the original royal blau metallic- it's a blue base with a purple flip. The RBM is the wildest paint BMW has used that I've seen. Then again, I'd love to see a grey to black flip. I've been on a kicker for flip paint the past month for some reason. One time in Miami I saw a candy red flip to gold and I was flabbergasted. I didn't know the flip could go that far away from it's primary color.

Here's the RBM. It's definitely different. But for a stock BMW color from 86; I think it's fucking delicious.

Thanks for the positive input, chaps.

I'm a simple guy with simple tastes, I'm not a fan of metallic colors on my own cars. I don't care at all about going with a factory color since I'm not really a bmw guy or a purist, I just want something I can stand to look at and deal with long term. That being said I'm pretty tired of looking at the car and stashed it away out of the shop again for awhile. I'm going to try to paint my e28 before summer is over since it's the closest thing I have to being done, then hopefully I can sell the thing and move on to my 70 c10 which is where my heart is at these days.

If I were to go with a factory color it would be 028 phoenix orange from 1977.

This is my favorite factory color I've ever sprayed, I know everyone will say something annoying about it being the jagermeister color but so be it.

How many times have I suggested that for this car?! :D

I am very excited to see this in July. I think this is the only time I'll ever admit to being excited to seeing an E24. Better note the date and time.

I know you have...

It will most likely not be there again as I have so many other projects that take presidence over it at this time. I have way more projects than one person should have, which makes it very difficult to get anything done.... that coupled with my failing joints makes things take that much longer.

You dont wanna go jagermeister.. my friend/work are doing a tribute with buried graphics. Dude spent $700 in stencils. It's 4 or 5 layers deep between clear. I know there's 300 hours in that body work/paint job.

Stencils are for pussies.

That and Inka are the only worthwhile orange family colors, and Super 70s to boot.

There was still so much correction that had to be done after the stencils. The logo's or decals or whatever you wanna call em are all multi layered. There's no way someone could tape that stuff out. It would be impossible. My friend went back and forth between vinyl and having the shit buried. Vinyl shop wanted what the stencils cost. My workshop wanted the recognition.. It's gonna be perfect.

My G4 phone just took a shit after a system update (kill command; since lg just dropped the G6 2 weeks ago) or I would boot up some pics of the progress. It is absolutely insane the amount of detail that's going into this. Airbrush gun and that plastic tape. It would no doubt be a $8k paint job with the hours invested.

The car will definitely make the rounds at shows. It will be at the Concours de elegance at keeneland in July next to a Vaydor.. The shop I work at builds and owns the rights to these..

I started converting the rear over to e28 suspension. I ordered a new 533i differential cover and installed it on a 373lsd, installed the subframe and trailing arms. I need to have the rear section of the driveline shortened approximately an inch. The e28 track width is about 10mm narrower per side which help's fit the wide wheels.
