unles your tapped your cyl head for 745 studs
Waste of money - me and ray have proven that method to be old and useless.

papajetta wrote:i was considering the t3 adapter for a while and almost went that route but:
- t3 is smaller housing than a k27 turbine. ( would make more sense if it was a k27/t4 adapter )
- a trip to the muffler shop and hack the downpipe.....
- a good turbonetics t3/t4 is 600+ ( not a knock off )

at the end i calculated that $/hp would be more beneficial to invest in a k27 upgrade.
I hear you. My baseline is a little different. My base engine is a complete M106, so the head all ready has 10mm studs. Using a TCD manfold means I will have to build a regular head. Also, I finally found a good 745i wastegate for a decent price, so now I can take the cost of a modded TiAL from Dan Miller off the budget (that was my option if I couldn't find a good WG, as the one on my engine has siezed and isn't responding to treatment). If I can get $300 for the K27, the other $300 of the price of a Garrett is offset by the WG savings. I have a friend who can do the welding for the downpipe mod ,so I just have to buy the flange.

I thought the t3/t4 hybrids were a good choice because they spool up a little faster, but still support a reasonably wide power band? For $600 you can have one built to your specs. I see TCD uses a t04e, perhaps I am mistaken in thinking that uses a t3 base?

TCD does not use a t3/t4.

.... about the 10mm hack job i did to my b35 head...
i wish u guys would have posted this earlier,..... not to mention drilling my block for the oil drain

All of our manifolds use T4 exhaust flanges. There is absolutley no reason to ever use a T3 flange. No benefit whatsoever.

Have your friend build an adaptor from the k27 flange to T4 flange.

k27->t4 adapter.. don't know if its physically possible.
the opening on a t4 turbine inlet is as wide as the 745 manifold.

Well the main point is that you want to be able to bolt on a T4.

the opening on the adapter is not that important, it can be smaller than the opening on the turbo, But it should be bigger than the opening on the manifold. That should be all.

stepped studs, custom made 10mm nuts, 8mm-10mm thread inserts or the like and a TCD manifold bolts onto the 745 head.
T4 to 745 manifold adapters are also on SALE.... $599.00 (if I decide to make them)....

Finally had time to do some turbo engine tasks yesterday. Basting the wastegate in PB has finally paid off, the valve moves freely and responds quickly to vacuum/pressure. This is because I bought another wastegate last week.

Took the K27 apart too. Exhaust turbine is not pretty. Something got in there, the edges of the vanes are curled and cracked. Scratch one wheel. All kinds of carbony crap coming out from behind the tin shield behind the exhaust wheel. :bawl: Better go water the money tree...

It gets worse -- the exhaust turbine housing has cracks around the perimeter on the inside. Serious heat cycle fatigue... This one is toast, no rebuild is going to save it.

How big is that money tree?
