Get an iTG filter. It will fit the space you cram it into and not have a large air blocking plastic surface.
Yea, I know it has a pretty small surface area. It's somewhat temporary until I can get something better. I would like to build an air filter box and use a slip in panel filter in front eventually.

As Duke mentioned, that intake filter is too restrictive for anything more than 5-6 psi. When you start to go to higher boost levels the restriction will create vacuum on the intake side of the turbo and pull oil through the bearing. The oil gets into the intake plumbing and you will see smoke out your tail pipe (not very comforting when your trying to bring a new turbo setup online).

Ask me how I know this..... :)

"If it's the black thing (by fire wall) that goes up then down It's actually the engine harness (need to ziptie it)."

No i was talking about the hose in the opposite direction, the one with the big brass fitting right in your face when you look at the last pic... lol

Ahh... that ones the turbo coolant "in" line. I got my fore/back grounds mixed.

GTA & Duke, I'm sending the filter back. I can get one that's the same shape but has twice the surface area 4" thick compared to 2" thick with a circumference off 22". Will this be enough filter? I'm also only going to run 8-10psi max.

Coolant in line? I dont want to sound like a jackass but i can honestly say ive never heard of that one... i know the oil in/out but is the coolant mandatory or are you just giving it added protection? God listen to me i sound like a noob..

did some searching and it sounds like something many of the mitsubishi turbos have.. and if i recall correctly didnt you use a dsm turbo?

It's actually a Roto-master turbo(owned by Garrett now) from a Car-tech turbo kit. Water and oil cooled, not necessary but doesn't hurt. Most turbos are just oil cooled now.

Not sure of exact brand a local muffler shop did it up. It sounds very nice and deep, although I might need to tone it down a little more down the road.

I'm really hoping to attend. There's a lot of factors though kids, school, wife's work, etc... But it's probably the closest it'll ever be.

Coupla' questions:

Did you buy all of your parts new, or were you able to mix new & used parts?

And, if you wouldn't mind saying out loud, around how much monies are you putting into this project (I speak of the turbo setup and reworked exaust only)?

I want I want I want a turbo in my car, but shelling out $4000 is totally out of the question. I'm just curious about how much it cost for guys who know this road.

Parts are mostly new with some used and rebuilt stuff. I'm a bargain shopper and have collected parts over the last year.

As far as price I roughly added things up and I would guess around 2k. I did have some of this stuff already but I added it to the total.
