Progress is slow. Sweeney suggested mocking up the motor mounts on a subframe outside the car with the foam block.
Kind of cool to see him work with a hand saw amongst the heavy machinery. He mentioned something about accuracy when cutting compound angles. I just think he likes the workout.

He has some awesome toys:
Bridgeport
CNC Mill
Lathe
Drill Press
MIG
TIG
Plasma Cutter
Media Blaster
Pellet stove (to keep us warm!)
Oh, he has some smarts too.
Those are just the big boys. I brought up my super duty parts washer to add to the mix.

You will need one of those to shoot the tires out on the Tiger as that will be the only way you can catch it.

Those are only to keep you away from the cave if you approach within 100ft of the entrance.

Made some progress Saturday. We have been able to determine where the engine will sit. Careful consideration must be made with the placement due to the addition of the turbo. We will be modifying the frame rail brace in order to lower the engine and move it back. We will need as much clearance in front of the engine as possible.
We have chosen an alternator and power steering package as well as exhaust manifolds (CTS-V). The packaging is going to be much tighter than I expected but it's going to fit.
Picture of the foam block with the tranny attached sitting on mounts but it's going to go a little lower and back once the exhaust manifolds are mounted so we can be sure of the final clearances.
BTW, the master cyl clears without modification.

That will help your front/rear weight ratio too.
Shelby did the same with the Tiger as the engine is so far back I have to go throught a hole in the firewall on the drivers side to change spark plug #8.
Looking good!

67mm billet compressor wheel
oil and water cooled journal bearing
P Trim turbine
1.15 Tang Exh housing with vband
and for perspective against a T04e, 61mm, .58 Exh

Good stuff todd
Do you think that you will be able to fit creature comforts in that engine bay as well?
Air conditioning? Yay or Nay
Those in the warmer states completely understand why I am asking. No way your driving a car without AC in muggy Florida weather.
This is a awesome project.

A/C was removed a few years ago. keeping a/c with this setup would be difficult.

We plan providing some LS/t56 swap parts. Mounts, driveshaft, PS lines, and some odds and ends. I have not thought about the turbo kit because I thought the demand would be minimal.

Can you post a picture of the Exhaust manifolds. I have an LS1 in my E28 with a 4 to one collector that I am looking to improve upon.

I am turbo charging my LS so the manifolds are going to be turned the opposite side direction.
I have three sets of manifolds enroute and will try them all to see if any off them fit for your purpose.
Any pictures of your car?

Had a good day working on the car. Removed the diff, swapped centers on the wheels from style 19 to style 5. finalized the position of the engine and tranny. Prototype motor mounts and tranny mount finished.
The engine is as low as possible and moved back so that the shifter is in the center of the center console not the center of the opening in the body. It's about 1.5" further back than the center of the body opening so we'll need to cut sheet metal to allow the shifter to operate correctly.
We tried three sets of exhaust manifolds fitted backwards on on opposite sides. None fit the driver's side so we will be building the manifolds.
Also removed the PS reservoir and coolant reservoir bracket. It really opens up the engine bay on that side.

Sorry I'm late on this thread Todd. May Eddie and I please have a ride in this monster when you get here to Tedfest with it? I just love Frankenstein E28's. Perhaps you should invite Sweeney along for the ride to Tedfest so he can enjoy some Canadian hospitality as well. The HP wars have begun and there is no better place like Tedfest to enjoy and share the wealth of such great minds in this business of building great HP cars with BMW heritage. Good luck with the build and looking forward to seeing you,Harper and Sweeney at Tedfest this year.

With the kit being just the LS swap and not the turbo. Would A/C fit then?
