Bought these nice Hartges from Graham. Picked up from refinishers today. Ronald says sweet!
Now only need new decals for center caps...
any recommendations on a supplier?
Does BavAuto have them? They're not usually my first go to but I've seen them in their catalogs.

Really? I've been looking for decals for my Hartge's for several years. Never have seen them at Bavauto (or anywhere else).

I bought these off Cactusjacks1 for 29 bucks on this board, Have not used yet as they are slightly smaller, and different color than original ( think he makes):

I can find the black background with blue & black Hartge logo. Would prefer the older silver logo

The rattle over bumps that started a few days ago from the front driver's wheel got worse, so I jacked it up and had a look around.
I must have lost the brake retainer clip over a pothole at some point, and now the 7mm hex pins on the caliper were both backing out from further pothole shaking. Thing was rattling like crazy by now
Tightened them up real nice and grabbed a new clip from the yard. Quiet as a mouse now so I don't sound like a hoopty going down the road

Dusted the snow off of it. It hasn't moved for about a week, and a couple of inches' worth has collected on it. I really need to do something to shine that thing up. When it warms up, in the spring.

I added the JC Whitney keyless entry I bought six months ago. Wow, what an easy life-changing job. Another "thanks to myE28" for the endless knowledge base that is this board!

It very well is a huge picture, however, beautiful.
That would make a great jigsaw puzzle. Difficulty level=extreme.

Took Glenn (azure) for a drive in it. Not helpful when trying to sell him an e34 Touring.

I will say this; if you think a 528e is slow normally, try taking it to 12,000 ft

I cleaned the sunroof drains on my 528e hoping they might have been the cause of this:
They weren't.
I also replaced the heater control valve on my 535is with a brand new OE unit. The original came completely apart and the rebuild kits suck.

Why do you dislike the rebuild kit? I haven't done one ever but am interested in knowing why so if I have to I can make an educated decision on how to proceed.

Today the '86 535i got the following
Shiny new fuse box cover-super easy to replace.
Shiny new head light/fog light switch support- supper easy to replace (geez these things are flimsy though).
Shiny new brake bomb-Not the hardest thing I've ever done, but man no matter how easy you think a project will be something always creeps up and makes it a pain.
First off the two lines near the firewall would not break free for the longest time. Eventually got them off and the bomb swapped. Then I had almost everything buttoned up and the 19mm high pressure line would not thread into the regulator for the life of me. Ended up having to remove the two low pressure lines and mounting bolts again to get it positioned right for the line to thread. What I've read and thought would take maybe 1.5-2 hours ended up taking me 3. This was my first bomb replacement so maybe I get a pass this time?

I went out and did my monthly run of Heinz. He was a little slow on startup but otherwise did fine. Its always difficult to not pull him out for a drive everytime I do that.

Everybody says the rebuild kits don't last for shit. I certainly was not impressed with the quality/feel of the rubber in the one I bought for Maytag. Vlad's a keeper so I don't mind paying for a part that I know will last in a situation like this.

I've had a mystery vibration for a while now. It seems like it started about eight months after getting my tires mounted. I've had them rebalanced a few times now, and it hasn't helped(my rotors are fine).
I have a whole new respect for America's Tire store. I bought my tires there originally and got the lifetime balance option. After the third time back with the same issue, they finally offered to "balance match" my wheels and tires. What this means is they find the heaviest side of both the tire and wheel, and oppose them. Then they do their standard balance. It solved everything. You'd think that balance is balance, but it seems not. It's more work, so I get it that they don't offer it on every install, but in my case, it did the trick. I'll always get this done from the beginning now.

The Bosch ones used to be decent and lasted a few years at least. Bosch stopped selling the insert as a repair kit though, and the repair kit brand available now is shit. If it works at all, it doesn't seem to stay that way longer than a year. Most of the time it fails sooner.
