E28 is still sitting in the garage due to heavy snowfall.

Sorted some parts today, read quite a lot about turbocharging and got out the red/white taillights in order to give them a thorough polishing tomorrow...

Good that there´s an E34 for DD. Ran into a sanding truck yesterday and could almost feel the paint taking damage in the sand shower. Couldn´t stand seeing that done to the E28.

pulled it all off again...

found out the o2 sensor is not hooked up...assuming that it goes to the one wire white connector, coming out of the bundle nearest the fire wall, but no real change in performance once its hooked up and no o2 sensor light is on??? fiddling with it right now

Ran it into the concrete median on the highway, not exactly what I had in mind but what is done is done.

I moved it out of the way so I could work on the e30

I replaced the SI board with a Programa, changed the 3 watt cluster bulbs to 5 watt, fixed the illuminated shift knob, replaced the outside air temp sensor and looked for the interior light delay relay (with no success).

I hit a large stretch of black ice on the highway and there was no easy way out, I am just glad I am fine and didn't hit/get hit by anyone.

Sold it. 11 years and 155K. I always thought I'd get rear ended and it would be totaled.

Well... it did happen to it's two predecessors.

Took advantage of the strange warm weather snap we're having and prepped the car for the differential swap (S3.25 out, S3.46 in) next weekend. Washed & de-greased the rear-end and tried to dig out the 22+ years of grunge on all the connections.

Man that was a mess.

Rotated the tires while I was at it and had to dry my trunk out . (Likely culprit: either the LP lights or the LP screws or both)

What a way to spend Valentines Day (Don't worry, her gift to me was to release me from all obligatory conventional rules of the "holiday", so I was happy to spend it under my car).

This weekend:

On the 82:

-verified that timing was on point. put everything back together, double checked torque specs and belts, etc, and she runs like a dream!
-air filter, oil change
-install new exhaust tip
-vacuum interior and put in new floor mats
-installed new exhaust hanger
Doesn't seem like to much, but it sure felt like a lot!

on the 88:
-washed and dried, vac interior like every week and put in new floor mats
-install new exhaust tips

Next week:

- rear bumper install on the 88
- situate some interior stuff on the 82, get the radio and heater blower working (connect the AC switch).
- clean out and straighten out the trunk on the 82, maybe install new seal
- start euro light install
- Perform measurements for is wing install
- modify tail lights for euro fog light install

Got the M5 towed to the shop. Now I can finally get it back on the road!
Now I just have to pull the interior, carpet, and all the burned crap out of it, get the intake back on, replace the guibo, reseal the trans, replace the CSB, replace the front calipers (stock for now, giant Stop Tech calipers and E38 rotors later,) replace the struts and springs, euro conversion, etc. Whew, I have a lot of work to do before May.

Sentenced it to eternal damnation.

Changed the tranny oil with a 50/50 blend of Swepco & Redline.
Rich in slippery goodness, mmm...

Pulled the tag lights, removed the silicone the PO used to hold them in, sanded all the connections, degooked the lenses and made them work right. Wow, they put out a lot of light!

Made sure the rest of the rear light light up nice and bright.

Installed my new battery (this little bundle of joy just loves to destroy the battery). Started her up and let her warm up and dry out the exhaust while she got a quick window cleaning. Rolled all the fuses and cleaned the coolant sensor connections so the damn coolant light will go out.

Time to get her new gas and put her back in rotation!

opened the hood.

Needed a third and fourth hand.

Fixed the rough warm idle with serious lack of power, it ended up being nothing more that a damn bad ground, after all the crap I went through to figure it out. Sensors and fuel pumps and wires and hoses and crap AHHHH!!!!!!
I'm so happy its running right.

Consequently this also fixed the interior fan intermitent failures, sunroof opperation, and rear defrost huh, who would have thought all that shit stemmed from a bad ground at the cold start injector

I'm so pleased!

Replaced the fan clutch.

If failed in the hot mode.
Made for a noisy acceleration.

I wonder if "The Don / libaschicago" could use an "amazing condition" fan clutch?

Nothing at all. Didn't even sit in it. I had my chain guides fail 2 weeks ago and jumped some teeth as well as blowing off 4 rocker arm shafts. No one seems to have a b35 around here. Now what?

Yesterday I replaced my side mirrors and disintergrated motors. The mirrors are from www.bavauto.com and the motors are from a 82/528 at http://www.pullapart.com/About/Economic.aspx the motors looks brand new. BTW, I wonder if "The Don / libaschicago" could use the "amazing" working side mirror motors ?...Free shipping

This last weekend I finished the e2i swap.

Put my friends naked T-Stars on it with 20mm spacers.

Had my timing belt changed, and found out that the previous owner was definitely retarded.. in addition to getting rid of it due to lifter noise.. (not adjusting the valves for 70k km will tend to do that).. he replaced the water pump and idler pulley.. but NOT the cam belt.. and had a 4cyl oil filter on it..

Finished the manifold-back exhaust replacement (except for getting tips).
Valves adjusted.
Let her run for the first time in a month to burn newness off exhaust. While she was idling to recharge the battery, I was inside fiddling with the radio and OBC, and she overheated, spitting fluid all over the garage (better than the side of the road!)
Pulled and tested thermostat, :check:
Turns out aux fan isn't kicking on. Started tracing problem.
Ordered tie rod assemblies and vac hose.
Next order(paycheck) UCAs and LCAs, spare relays.

Got overdrive back by reconnecting a disconnected wire

Lubed the throttles, cleaned and installed the intake and AFM, and pushed it into the shop. More tomorrow.

Installed my new 8mm Red wires along with a new cap and rotor.
Sure does look prettier under the hood.
better too. (But it's still an eta autotragic.)

Put it back in the garage since the E34 is back in commission!
