Finally had some time to paint my calipers today:

I was going to work outside, but it started raining. Had to get creative:

'Sully' looking on. Probably high on fumes:

'Sully' finds something much more interesting:

Also, picked up these and had some tires mounted:

Reclassified the old girl with the state.
Total luck with the number. If you squint it looks like BMR5!

Replaced duck gasket. The one in place was pretty jacked.

HOWEVER...

This didn't fix my oil leak...
Argh!
Looks like I'll be under a running car trying to keep hot oil out of my eyes later...

Check your timing cover gasket. I've seen a small trickle find it's way to the back of the motor incriminating the duck gasket. ;)

Got the parts car cut up in pieces ready to head to the scrapyard

I also finished the radio install (Kenwood KMM-108U) on the '86. I just needed a cheap HU since I took out the stock radio/amp, so this one doesn't have a CD played - but hey, its the 21st century - when I'm not listening to the morning show on the radio, I'm listening to music on my iPhone or thru Pandora, both of which this does. All for $80. Not bad so far - except my LR speaker is dead, but all other speakers are good to go!

I've been having problems with my e28 stalling/cutting out while driving and even when parked(started every time though). Took the car to a shop and $400 later the problem re-surfaced after a couple of months(they replaced fuel filter, distributer cap and other things). Had a 2nd mechanic take a look at it, and within 5 minutes diagnose it as a bad catalytic converter and wanted $900 dollars, hell no. Looked online and found other things to check like intake boot, throttle position sensor and idle control valve. Found a deal on ebay for a used intake boot(original boot looked okay) and icv for $50. Took a chance and bought it, and installed the parts. The car does not hesitate, stall or cutoff anymore, the throttle has a nice response now.

Installed new wheels, mounted new tires, and had it all aligned.

Had all the dings removed from both Maytag and Vlad. The real patient was the 911, but while the guy was at my home I figured... he took out about 20 dings across 3 cars for $600.

patched it on the side of the road... Heater control valve exploded, the collar where the heater hose mounts shattered... Luckily there was about a 1/4" left and was able to get a clamp on it, walked to the store and got 2 gallons of distilled water and nursed it home. Fun little adventure. The tool kit sure came in handy, thanks bmw!

You don't have a Bird of Paradise plant along your driveway that eats small birds either.

...but at least we see where the wheels went - right inside of the new Michelins. And that VIN tag on the dash clearly says "DC93."

Do we get to see more of what the dents are coming out of, or are you going to make me go all the way to Eye Candy?

(omigod - I just went to Eye Candy. Those coupe pictures are stunning!)

The clues are merciless, and homeboy's last e28 went to Atlanta if I'm not mistaken.
