It is on a modified spring/shock setup in this shoot, if you want to go this low I would recommend a Ground Control Setup. Give them a call, you will want stiffer rates and revalved shocks. The ride was livable, but not ideal :)

I vote for a "Don't worry about it" kind of thinking, when the car looks that sick. Worth it to go with whatever downsides haha.

Car rides normal unless hitting a big bump/dip then is harsher. Tires will wear out quicker to a point, but still will last 10,000+ miles aligning it the best you can :)

It is something you have to consider going in and definitely not for everybody, but it is what makes the car "right" IMO. Is not meant to perform ideally, but it looks sure looks good.

the car is as beautiful as the photography, so why discriminate.

I'll explain it to you:
the wheels are uber rare & in very aggressive fitment.
the wheels are mostly period correct 3pc. set.
the paint is stock & dead on!
the bumpers & rare interior are STOCK! so sweet.
the headlight assemblies as well are stock & aggressive.
nothing has been ruined or improperly touched.
the car doesn't rub or need to avoid majority of streets.
the uniqueness matches the rarity as far as E28's go.

just thought I'd teach ya a bit :laugh:

everyone, I mean everyone agrees that a lowered car looks better. car companies, race teams, even hot rods all lower their cars for photoshoots . . . some choose to keep their car looking photo fresh 365 a year.

just because you can't handle the drive doesn't mean this is true for all.

regardless, it's his drive, so my thought would be that it's not for you to worry about.

When did you become the Designated Apologist for the OP? With help like yours, I'd rather be on my own. FWIW, Kyle is right. There's no way in hell those rears will see 10k miles.

I just wanted to point out that, in spite of any color shift from the photos, I'd be willing to bet that is a Cardinal interior out of a US spec 535is. The sport seats certainly are. Taurusrot is darker, IIRC.

Get this, the car had all of that except for the "uber rare" wheels with "aggressive fitment" before this guy bought it. The car has been ruined with the "uber rare" wheels with "aggressive fitment." Looks like all you taught me was that is guy is ruining a perfectly-good car with rare parts. The car looks disabled. Even more so knowing it's a 525e. My 535is is low, but I can still get over a speed bump without having to look like a choad.

I respect the fact that these people want to do something with their cars, but I really cannot stand their superiority complex.

You don't have to teach me anything about stupidity, btw. I've got that down.

I tried to be nice earlier. Look what you made me do now.

The wheels on my car do not need to be an "aggressive fitment," with over 400 ft/lbs of torque available at the rear wheels the engine does just fine at supplying that look!

Wow haha, this thread blew up.

The car is not for everyone, it has stretched tires, is stupid low, and the rear has a lot of camber. Fabel, I appreciate you attempting to "get my back", but honestly you are beating a dead horse, and making me look bad by arguing it as I do not side 100% with you and you have some misinformation there. I would have preferred the comment went unprovoked....

I couldn't care less if Kohler or anyone else doesn't like the car, I won't lose any sleep over it. I respect, and really like his car and the work he put into it, and hope he would be able to do the same, but it is fine if not :laugh: I did chuckle at choad though, what a great underused word. However, ruining the car? Seriously? Come on man it just suspension and wheels.....


The interior looks brighter in those pictures than it is in person. It is definitely taurusrot, as to whether it is original or not, I would assume yes, but have no proof, nor do I really care. Thanks for predicting my tire wear though guys :rofl: I will trust the guy who drove his car with the same specs to cali and back, then on to florida though, rather than a couple guys guessing as they dislike the way it looks.

At the end of the day it is MY car and it will be modded how I want. I understand that is not to some of your tastes, but does it really matter that much? We are all here because we like cars, no reason to get so bent out of shape of how mine sits.

I couldn't give a flying fuck what you do with your car. I don't have to like it. You're not going to convince me that everytime you scrape the bottom of your car on something that you're not ruining it. Again, I don't care. I do care when a douche cruise ship comes in and tries to tell me that I am wrong and need to be taught something for giving my opinion. Actually, I never even gave my opinion because I was trying to be nice and not turn your thread into a circus.

Am I happy you are happy? Sure. I'm also happy it doesn't bother you I don't like your car, though for what it is, its one of the nicer-looking ones, at least in photos.

That was uncalled for, and as said, not my opinion, nor do I think it should have been posted. I don't blame you for responding to him, but my car came up so it involved me ;)

The car is in decent shape overall. It is far from a concourse car and is my daily driver, I am enjoying the ETA motor, and it does well on gas. The only thing that ever really touched is the exhaust, doesn't bother me that much, nor do I consider it ruining the car. Is definitely not for everyone, and can see how some would consider that destroying the car.

The car looks very clean and Mike's does a great job of making even beat cars (ie "rusty") look great in photos, so it's pretty tough to judge the actual condition of your car... HOWEVER, it looks decent in the photo, so nice work. Your e28 is damn sharp, man!

I'm not a uberfan of the "Dunceworks" approach to ride height and wheel combo. It's my personal opinion that it looks cartoonish, but hey... it's your car, so my opinion should mean nothing in the grand scheme. I also respect that you posted the pic, knowing that everybody is not going to gush on and on about how amazing it is, but were mature enough to accept OUR opinions without feeling the need to defend your personal taste.
What Fagel (sp?) did is the typical response/approach to defending the style and trying to convince me that I'm wrong and he's right. Kudos to you for not coming in with a huge chip on you shoulder and that "I'm entitled" attitude.

I actually liked the car until Fabel was trying to shove it up my ass. I think I even said how I liked the finish on the raised portion of the spokes. If you're going to get all huffy-puffy than forget it.
