I missed this purchase. Looks like a really clean M535i. Thread somewhere?

The story is that the original owner ordered the car with performance in mind, so high comp, dogleg close ratio, Recaros and no ac or cruise. Then he put on Hartge staggered wheels and rear spoiler and an Alpina front spoiler (too bad that didn't survive the years).

Damn Dave, how did I miss that? Sweet car, sir.

I finished a valve adjustment last night at approx 3am. I would have had it done a lot sooner if I hadn't started at midnight. I owe Rodney 12 new shims.

Side note: S54 valve adjustment is wayyyyyy easier than the same job on an s38. Removing a clip and sliding a rocker arm out of the way is a lot less hassle than depressing the valves.

Pulled LSD and axles from donor M535i. Removed rear shocks from 535i.

Got an(other) ECU installed in Scotty. Back to enjoying the Conforti chip and all of the extra ponies it brings to the party.

Found an uncracked OEM Carlite Windscreen at the junkyard. 528e came in thursday, I saw it on their website that night and went to nab the glass first thing in the morning. $200 installed and no more giant cracks for me

Found I got a chip with the incorrect number of pins but installed my new door cards and fixed my odometer.

Worked in the Bronzit '85 a bit today. Cleaned the engine compartment and blasted the dead foam off the hood. Will attach a 528e panel under there once I find the plastic pins. Began to clean the interior a bit - my boys are thankless slobs.

Valve adjustment & replacement of the back half of the exhaust system tomorrow. Been putting off the exhaust job for 2 years, but have an opportunity to use a lift so now's the time! Picked up an used stock system from a local.

Then to decide whether to keep it through the winter or pass it on to the next interested driver.

Picked up an undamaged IS valance, bracket, rear door glass and rubber, as well as a dash carpet from dsmith! It was a pleasant road trip of 180 miles with nary a hiccup from the venerable M30 with ~280,000 miles.

:(

e28 got parked to the rear of the garage, lifted and covered for the winter. Later than some years, earlier than others. The long range forecast shows nice weather next weekend, so maybe I'll bring it out one more time? Hope so.....

Changed out the defective passenger door window switch with a new replacement switch on the Bronzitbeige Eta. Price for these appears to have doubled in 10 years.

Mick

It was 70+ degrees today (might have broken the record!) so I figured it was a great day to put the snow tires/wheels on the Bronzit '85. It's supposed to be in the 40s next weekend.

Discovered a pull to the left under braking but can't seem to tell which it is. Pads seem normal and none of the wheels get warm. No dragging that I can tell.

I spontaneously got tired of seeing my euro fogs sitting on a shelf in my garage, so...

Nearly finished the install by the time it started getting dark out. (Next project: Improving the lighting in the garage).
I'd have finished, but, damned if I can find the offside fog harness. The nearside one was right where you would expect, but... /SHRUG

I put new belts on the eta while tracking down a squeal. The stock ac belt calls for 13 x 810. That's way too tight. I switched it for a 13 x 825 and it fit much better. No more squeal.

Today I got out the grinder and put it to work on the horrifically orange peeled Polaris Silver respray. And here I thought i was going to have to repaint this thing.

I put a roof rack on about an inch out of square and made margaritas. In that order, I have no excuse.

Got up this morning and finished the aforementioned fog lamp install.

Here's what I started with. Note the complete absence of anything in the fog lamp openings.

Here's where I left it last night. I'd nearly finished the install by the time it started getting dark out. The lighting in my garage kinda blows.

And now, all done.

Replaced the license plate lamp housings. ~$10 each from FCP. POR-15'd the rusty openings and used the little plastic screws and backing inserts that hold the headlight grilles in. No more rust potential from those damned metal screws. The old lamps worked but the whole assemblies were so corroded they continually set off the Active Check. So far so good there too. Time will tell...
