The Samurai would be my second choice for a daily driver. Girlfriend's father has one I have driven quite a lot the past two summers. It's a great drive on, and off road.
it's not too bad, but I haven't had to drive it on the interstate yet lol. Brought it down on a uhaul trailer, still have to register it in WA. As long as I'm on flat ground I should be able to do 60MPH, but any uphill and my speed will be dropping.

Removed w4.10
Installed s3.91
So, no more tire scrub marks on my driveway.

P.S.
w4.10 is For Sale if anyone has interest.

Spent a little quality time with it at the car wash (dang but the Germans make getting a car washed a pain in the tuckus!) then drove my sweetie and some friends to a quaint little gasthaus out in the country for some good German farm food. Drove it home and tucked it in with it's new car cover. May not get a chance to drive it again until my next day off, a week from today. :(

Ooooo, new paint, cool. I've just been painting my utility trailer and there's something about fresh paint that's neat. There's a certain visible feeling of accomplishment or something. Of course my painting skills are better suited to utility trailers than cars, but that's another story.

I threw a bunch of money at it and then took it in for a second attempt at passing smog.

Nice Karl. I'm so glad I don't have to deal with that garbage.

Today I discovered that B35 and B34 do not have the same size power steering pump belt...

Anyone want a 10x888mm Contitech belt? Free including USPS shipping to US to first PM.

Bought a daily driver last night. Thanks to Cactus for helping secure it. Started going through it today and making a list. Cleaned off the weathered plastidip from the windshield trim and it looks much better. Swapped an antennae to have a good seal and fiddled under the hood.

Very solid car that pulls nice with the 3.46. No shimmies. Planning to add Euro bumpers, M5 box and eventually swap in black carpet and cardinal interior.

I try to not over-change oil too. Every time I've done a Blackstone analysis they basically have said I'm an idiot for changing it so soon. But growing up with a dad harping on 3000 miles has scarred me. I'm at about 5k on Vlad and was planning on changing it tomorrow. Maybe I'll wait....

Picked up an 88 528e auto. Runs and drives, has pretty new front suspension parts and water pump. Usual East Coast rot but not the worst I've seen, decent interior (except driver's seat) and the paint actually isn't too bad. Something is seriously goofed up in the wiring as many on-board electronics don't work -- tach, OBC, radio, wipers, horn, interior lights, seat motors, etc. inop. I'll start sorting through it as time permits and see if it can become daily drivable.

Trying to remember, do M5s have EGR? I've never seen Nox numbers like that on any BMW pre E39. I know it wasn't what you failed, but still.

No EGR. On the first attempt last month the Nox was 55 & 112 but it was HCs that got it tagged as a gross polluter. For this test I replaced o2 sensor, CTS, plugs, cap, rotor, air filter and an oil change.

I can remember in the early 70's signs in rest areas saying do not drain oil on pavement, suggesting to me at least that the gravel area was ok. Those places are probably Superfund sites now.

Installed new door striker buffer nub things. All of them where missing when I bought the car. No more slamming doors for me! Probably the best 4 dollars spent on the car thus far. Vastly improved the feel and sound (if that matters) of the door operation.

Bought it. First BMW I've owned. 1987 528e. 116,000 miles. Newer radiator, timing has been done, new vacuum hoses, plugs, wires, etc. AC, radio, seats, windows all work except the rear passenger window will not roll down. Planning on lowering it, doing an exhaust, and maybe euro bumpers. Got a hell of a deal on it

Swapped the alternator to fix a cluster light issue, replaced the ICV hose for a massive vacuum leak and bled the clutch to get proper pedal. Baseline items next week and she will be running strong.

I guessing o2 sensor and/or CTS. The plugs, cap and rotor seemed to be in great shape. I had changed the o2 sensor before but the CTS was original, so almost 30 years old and 300k+ miles. :dunno:
