I finally took my door apart and plugged in my lock actuator. I didn't realize I unplugged it last year and finally got tired of manually locking/unlocking the LR door.

Pulled the parts '88 528e out of the brier patch so I could harvest some good stuff and then off to the JY it goes. It was a freeebie, driven up from Newport RI in a sou'wester in May of "05. A complete rust bucket with a good running driveline, working AC Didn't miss a beat. I shut it off and it wasn't as useful as the parts '82, It yielded up a bumper and a drive shaft and some other stuff to keep the fleet going.

Yesterday I washed it in the rain, and today I picked up some lumber for a project!

Took the brake light switch out so I could put it in the e24 and take the e24 for inspection. I just replaced the brake light switch in the e24 a couple of years ago. And last year. And this Tuesday. On Thursday, I began backing out of the garage and saw BRAKE LIGHTS on again. *facepalm* I don't think I'm going to buy any more of the FAE switches. They suck.

I put my M535i away for the winter today. :( I may have been able to drive it for another couple weeks, but you never know about the weather in Minnesota this time of year. We've already had a little snow a few times and it's been colder than normal; the weather forecasters are saying we probably will still have some nicer weather before winter really sets in but we'll see. So, it's the 325ix until spring.

Replaced the fuel injectors in the '87 535is. I found some used injectors here on the forum and sent them off to be rebuilt. Runs smooooth as a baby's toosh. Only problem is that when taking the fuel rail out, the 30 year old brittle plastic connecting housing around the reference sensors crumbled apart  So I have new bosch units on the way....at least I have something to post here later this week.

I was just about to ship out a super eta engine harness last night, when I noticed a cut wire, a big black cable emerging just before the speed sensor and the diag port. It looked like a 10awg. I cut a small piece of binder and traced the wire into the bundle feeding ECU plug. I resolved to do a stare and compare on BB Shiftless in the AM. After removing the diag port, without the grinder and a hammer and chisel i used on the first harness. And the airbox, I concluded that the lead from the ECU to one of the Hall effect sensors was the victim. I decided that the best resolution was to keep on taking out the harness at hand. The customer had been very patient and didn't hassle me when I had well troubles to fix. I'm getting good at it, no false steps, tender spots were handled carefully. I'm pretty sure I can repair the lead if I can find an end. But I sure as heck couldn't sell it for the price I quoted the guy aand which he had already PP'ed me the money.

Took advantage of it being a rainy day, and gave the old girl a good scrub down.

I would hope it's gas, given that it's coming out of your gas tank.

If it's piss, you have a bigger problem. ...and possibly some explaining to do.

The car won't run and barely starts. By my memory, the gas could be 18 months old. The car has only been driven twice since you and I drove home from Mission Bay last year.  :(

I am 1 ball joint away from harvesting a good front end. Mostly Lemforder that has been re-greased. Plus a set of UCAs with the Moose's bushings.

Trying to chase down the gas smell in the cabin. Ended up replacing all the vapor hoses in the trunk. The hard line to the vapor tank is pretty shotty looking but not sure if it needs replacing or not.

Well after two months, I got my car back from both mechanical and interior work.

Mechanically it received....can I post in this thread if someone else did the work and I just wrote a check? ..and is it ok to post a bunch of boring maintenance after that sexy engine?

- New factory CAT. My cheap ass brother put some generic single pipe cat in. It used to get this hesitation in the 4-5k range. That is gone.
- New driveline / U-joints.
- Rear transmission mounts.
- Rear sub frame bushings.
- Adjustable red thong.
- trans out seal, detent plate, shifter cup, and shift joint.

Interior
- re-upholstered front sport seats. I blame this on the bronzit.
- misc; trunk carpet, cigarette lighter, some new trim pieces, couple other items.

Drove by my dads house just to see my e28 under a tarp, and stare at it and all its glory.
