Be glad it's not an E39 you discovered it on. Ask me how I know.

Took it for my weekly drive to work. Started right up, which is weird since it took longer to start when it was my daily. The power steering whine was also longer. Will have to check out the system when I get a chance.

Yup, I looked it up and found the thread where everyone suggested the filter. Figured It was time for a flush anyway.

Awaiting word from my mechanic on the cause and fix for my automatic transmission that suddenly bled out on the interstate. Any guesses as to why?

Rusty 32+ year old pipework perhaps? Just about to replace the transmission oil cooler pipework in the left wheel arch of the Zobelbraun Eta, which developed a pin hole leak
Fortunately this presented itself when moving the cars around the garage so the red puddle of fluid on the drive was a dead giveaway. If this had happened when I was on the road then it would have most likely emptied the auto transmission.
Regards,
Mick

Finally found time to replace the PS filter. With a new filter and fresh ATF, it no longer whines at me on a cold morning. Next on the list, valve adjustment.

I washed Maxine and..... took Pepper for a run and.... drumroll please.... checked my damn TIRE PRESSURE. It's wild how a few days sweeps into a few weeks and then I was thinking "damn those front shocks need replacing, stet....."
Well they still are a tad softer than the rears and should be done in the next few months, sure. But I discovered I was uniformly down 8 elbows in every tire (I run 34/32). Wow. And parking lot maneuvers are substantially easier now too. And I'm sure I'll pick up some mpg's to help pay for the struts LOL.
BTW has anyone dyed the bacon strip around the handbrake lever? Should be relatively simple, no?

Tackled the ol' valve adjustment job I've been putting off for a while now. I thought it looked difficult but it was actually really easy, assuming I did it correctly. Certainly feels better than before, no odd sounds or anything. Driveway was full, so street job ftw.
I had never even opened it up before today. I made sure to tighten up those banjo bolts while I was at it.
Also replaced the valve cover gasket since I have no idea when it was last changed. The wind actually screwed me up and I ended up needing to run to the hardware store for new acorn nuts. Next up, probably get some new rubber bits, those hoses and boots felt too brittle.

Good stuff and it is actually simple, next plus one. Takes about 3 beers just don't keep second-guessing yourself. Get it done and get out. Mine were done about 15K ago but they are still decent. You can just listen and tell. There's very faint noise so I guess I'll get to it soon. The older the car gets and things set in they usually don't need it as often. Same with the Ducati.

On the 535is:
- Fixed a sticky power lock.
- Fixed a sticky defroster button.
- Added clutch pedal bracket reinforcement from DAVID PEPIN.

-Added the missing ground strap from valve cover to firewall.
-Replaced the cracked up inside driver door handle. Tightened up the linkage by filling the holes with RTV.
-Added a vapor barrier to the driver door, since it was AWOL.
Tomorrow starts the cleaning under the front half of the car and pulling the steering box, making way for an M5 box.

Ordered a new inline fuel pump from AutopartsGeek $95.00 can't beat that. I had bought a new one in the summer but it got compromised from the little bits of crap that were still in the fuel tank and occasionally clogging it. I haven't had any blockages in months now so I'm hoping I'm past all of that now.

Replaced this pesky Relay so my dome lights come on. It was only $10 bucks for a used one. We'll see how long it lasts but in the meantime I'll enjoy a cold craft slug, with the money saved on a new one!

Yesterday I got new tires, running 205 45 17s on my 17x8 et 20. Sitting a little higher last tire was a 205 40, much smoother ride quality.

Man if your still in the Vallejo area I may need to link up with you and get some help with my valve adjustment. I’m in Folsom so about 2 hours away.

For sure. Yeah it looks tough but once you open it up it's pretty straightforward. Youtube also helped me get through it. Hmu if you really need the help, we can figure something out.
Bought some good condition black leather comforts for the e28 to replace the deathtrap broken comforts I have now. My first facebook marketplace transaction. Install tomorrow. The dude had a damn collection of bimmers at his mini estate. e36, e34, e38, 2 e28's. Thanks for the seats!

Installed the black interior. Difference is night and day. Driving the car is much more enjoyable now. I will get black door cards in the future, but for now, I'm just happy I have an intact driver's seat!
Also, I learned that my car has a rear sunshade.
only took me 2 years to find out.
