No, they're smaller cars. Both width and wheelbase. E36s do use similar sized tires, so long shot, but I doubt, fender flares/arches might be adaptable, wheelbase might be similar, but remember E36s used that banana shaped rocker.

Could they be made to attach? Yes. Fit? No.

Me too! After 5 months of hibernation I unplugged the trickle charger and checked the fluids and tires ... fired right up. Took the beast out for a 15 mile jaunt. Drove tight and true. Really missed being behind the wheel. Looking forward to a fun summer with the beast - a few projects may be pending (whiny transmission, new exhaust, AC rebuild, may install new dash, OEM style 5 wheels with new rubber). After summer, my plan is to drive to O'Fest 2019 in SC and then drive the beast to FL for good.

Purchased new vacuum lines, brake accumulator, ignition coil, cap, rotor, lines and plugs. Hope to actually pull some wrenches this month instead of collecting old parts and unopened boxes

Drove it up an hour to Sacramento for company training. A completely different ride with the newer comfort seats and meatier tires on my borbet type As. Cruises like a dream at 80.

Real simple fix: the solder connection on the fuse inside the CLS "brain" had broken. Evidently this is a common problem, often caused by locking and unlocking the doors repeatedly in quick succession.
Larry I am having an issue with my CLS where the the locking knobs go down but them pop right back up. Thinking my 535is may have the same issue. Where is the CLS brain located? I'm a nebie to the car and would appreciate any help you can lend.

Replaced my odometer gears from Odometer Gears LTD. It's a pretty simple operation but I'm always terrified working on the gauge cluster. Im always worried I'm going to damage the fragile 35 year old circuits or solder. Very satisfying.

I'm at sort of a crossroads with my e28. I took a long look at it and decided that it's not worth restoring/fixing up, just too many little things that add up. It makes more sense to keep it as just a good daily driver for now. I love it, but i'm not obsessed with it. Now I suppose i'm once again in the hunt for a project car. Question is, will it be another e28..?

Spent some time this weekend working on a few things. Took the hood weatherstripping off the parts car, cleaned it really well and applied Honda's Shin Etsu grease to it. That stuff is amazing for weatherstrips. Also removed the old trunk gasket, cleaned the old adhesive as best I could (we'll see how that goes) and installed the new trunk gasket using 3M weatherstrip adhesive. Then on Sunday I installed the new subwoofer and amp for some moar bass! The GF asked how old I was. Didn't take into consideration getting to the spare tire when installing the sub box but luckily it all worked out. And then FINALLY installed the rear seats. I'm using the vinyl seats out of the parts car for now. I really want to use the original leather seats but the driver's seat frame is broken in several places. Maybe I'll get around to working on rebuilding it one day. The original leather has a nice patina to it and doesn't squeak when cold like the vinyl.

( Technically, I did some of this yesterday)

Removed the old Pioneer head unit in preparation for installing a new Continental.

Out with the old...

... Soon to be in with the new:

I also got around to repairing the interior header panel, and re-installing it.

Valve adjustment on the 84, they were making some noise. 3 were loose, 1 of the 3 valves was really loose.
I updated the spray bar bolts and found the most forward one FINGER TIGHT!!! Car only has 98K miles and this adjustment was probably way past overdue.

Took the car to its first Caffeine and Carburetors in New Canaan, CT. Amazing turnout despite an iffy forecast and being the first event of the year.

Loving the clear look.

I have the same clear lenses (fronts, sides and rears) on my Etas.

If you are not a fan of the fried egg look of the orange bulb behind the clear lens, then there are silvered bulbs that flash orange on the market. These blend into the silvered interior of the turn signal housing.

I think I acquired mine from Schmiedmann a couple of years back.

Regards,

Mick

I got these from e28Goodies.com. I'm not a fan of the fried egg look, but these are the bulbs that came with the lenses, and the LEDs I had in previously (behind the yellow lenses) were white LEDs. Going to use these bulbs until I can get a hold of the amber version of the LEDs I had been using.

I am interested to know more about LED turn signal lamps.

I have LED (festoon is that the correct term?) in the two cabin interior lights, the trunk light and the two rear number plate lights.

Mick

Jump started my 533i with one of those tiny portable jumper packs. It did what it needed to! Just received euro bumpers from Poland, so that's next.

I picked these up, off Amazon. They work really well!

No egg yolk look when off:

And on, they are nice and bright, and just the right shade of reddy orange (doesn't photograph well):
Image

You will need an LED-compatable (solid-state) turn signal flasher to avoid rapid flash; You can get one that will plug right in in place of the OEM one from most auto part stores.

I am due for a replacement myself, bought a new accumulator, gasket, and fluid filter.... just need to schedule time for labor. How long did it take to remove the whole unit?

Removing the assembly should take 20 min. Maybe a bit more if it's the first time you do it.
Once you get the hard lines loose it's a breeze.

P.S.: having the tools at hand, 1-2 hours is a reasonable time frame for the whole job.
