I learned yesterday that you should never try to lift a glass front stove by the door handle.

On a happier note, on Friday we got my son his first car.

Nor a microwave by it's door handle. I don't have the x-ray, but I think it's the only time I bled thru my shoe.

Yep, it's a long story, but I worked thru the day that way. The next day I picked up some crutches I was going to throw away. Turned out not to need them but it was touch and go for a few days.

I was splitting wood with a very sharp axe . Freehand . It was Christmas break and I was doing a valve job on my bug of the season. in the shop with a stove. I was steading the log with my left hand and I was swinging with my right. As the axe head went past my ear, it dawned on me that this might end badly. It could have been worse. I had split my left thumb nail about 1/2 way down. I ran up stairs, and once Mum calmed down, she gauzed and wrapped it, after running off a fair amount of O+ under the cold water tap. . I cut off a thumb from an old glove and electrical taped it to my hand. Kept going and had the engine in by supper time.

I broke a little toe once, and it kinda looked like that at first. That was painful for a long time. Until that injury I never gave much thought to shoe fit; anything even approaching a tight fit was a no-go until that thing healed. Lots of sandals that summer, but they had their own drawbacks too...

Just a question for the pilots 'round here; is this true?

It's kind of a ballsy move in this economy but a buddy of mine is opening a new restaurant. Tonight is the soft opening with free food and wine for friends. I don't know whether to go dressy or casual.

I recommend dressing up like Gene Simmons and bringing a guitar but that's just my first thought. If no go casual.

Nice! Looks like a '59 Galaxie? This was the wife's car in high school - we've still got it (nothing leaves this family....)

The restaurant biz is always a way to make a small fortune, as long as you're starting with a large one. I love to eat out but I have no idea how most of them stay in business. And those are the good ones.

He's going for a niche market. I think the clientele is going to be a lot of what used to be called yuppies that don't want to cook but also don't want to get in the car and drive somewhere.

I'm taking ear plugs in case I'm seated near the kitchen. I don't want to hear the screams as they're dropped into the pot.

I saw a woman security guard today. A little unusual, but not that much. Except she appeared to be in her mid 60's, white hair, unarmed and looked only slightly more intimidating than your average blue hair coming out of a beauty parlor. Might have been more than met the eye, but that trade is based on appearance not capability.

Besides, a blue haired woman would call it a beauty parlor.

They are "salons" now.
One of my friends makes major bank coloring hair. He makes even more for house calls when clients can't leave the house after having cosmetic surgery. The more 'ya know. . .

I got a Vasectomy today... just going to take it easy for the next few...

I have to say that I’m VERY disappointed. When I got the email I was expecting something along the lines of Major Kong’s survival kit. What a letdown.
