That's the exact same lecture my dad gave me when I bought a new '81 Jeep Scrambler. I didn't listen to him, and had a heck of a lot of fun in that Yeep. Spent a lot of time shoveling snow to get it un-stuck too.KillerPM wrote:Run it in 2wd until you get stuck. Then get yourself out in 4wd. Never drive around in 4wd because if you get yourself stuck in 4wd, you aint getting out easily.
Yah , for sure, and they have quite a following in CO. But the maintenance is constant and the MPG is turrible going up hill.m5chaser83 wrote:GRAND WAGONEER!!!!
I'd buy an FJ-80 and go back to school.BMWgiant wrote:I'm not a student, for one. I'm also not looking for a new vehicle this season. I have just been more interested in old school man mobiles, ie 4x4s and AWDs. I'm looking way into the fire but thought this could be a fun thread. Seeing as I haven't posted in a page and a half and it still made 3 pages, I'd say it is a successfully interesting topic. Go Broncos

All depends on the plow.BMWgiant wrote:What do you all think of this bad boy?

1973 IH with Snow Plow - $1800
I figure I could get somewhere around $1000 for the plow. I just have no idea how often people need to buy one. If it's a good working plow, it must be a decent daily driver, right?
Looks awesome from Virginia!BMWgiant wrote:What do you all think of this bad boy?

Words to live by. I also have a bridge for sale if you're in the market.BMWgiant wrote:If it's a good working plow, it must be a decent daily driver, right?
Run, run away quickly. I think people are remembering them romantically, when they were current they weren't spoken well of at all. And to Blake, if a plow is attached to it run the other way, that means it's been worked hard, much harder than most.BMWgiant wrote:What do you all think of this bad boy?

I didn't realize he was looking at it for a DD. I definitely wouldn't get that as a DD. Parts could take weeks to get and there WILL be problems. It's a great side/project vehicle, though.Mike W. wrote:Run, run away quickly. I think people are remembering them romantically, when they were current they weren't spoken well of at all. What Mike said. Most plow trucks get beat to death, and the fact that this one is selling for less than $2,000 IN THE FLIPPIN WINTER is a huge red flag.Mike W. wrote:Run, run away quickly. I was going to ask that when I saw the new section.tsmall07 wrote:Should we have all of Blake's threads automatically post in the Tailpipe?
