I told you about it on the first page of this thread... it is THE be all and end all of E21 knowledge and information on the World Wide Web. Go there, search, inwardly digest and be happy!
Enjoy the e21, great car.
I completely forgot about that feel free to hit me. test drove it today. The gear shift is sloppy and clutch seems a little worn. Sticky first gear but that can be handled. It needs work but then again the previous owner was bit neglective of it. So that makes me leary for any lurking problems.
Oh and theres about 2' of snow on the ground right now and its hitting hard. And its only been snowing for like an hour.
No the 323i and 320i suspension parts are not interchangable unless you buy the whole kit-n-caboodle. no mix and match. you can however put VW suspension parts on and Volvo brake parts.
Only some things can be used from an e30, but that would be a downgrade.

Oh its mine you better believe it haha. Ive got the deal set in stone so when my income taxes come this next weekend i can take home the day i hand them the money.
* Oh and its got a hand crank moon roof I thought that was awesome. * So now i dont have to worry about it deciding to quite when it starts to rain...... Yea that was a bad day in the e28 haha.

No you don't, you just think you do. Arguably a better car for DD than an 02, but slower, uglier and handles worse. Probably doesn't rust as bad, but rusts even in Cali.
jpupster wrote:I run with the e30 crowd. Yes, the M10 loves high revs. The e21 has always been a good car for me. I've had this red one for 25 years.
I don't love E21's but an "is" in Henna is pretty appealing. The 3.90 lsd. sport wheel, wheels and factory Recaros make it the sportiest of the US E21's. Very nice.

everyone should get one.
Every one brings up the rust... THERES NO RUST ON MINE >.<
Don't be so sure of that. They ALL have rust.
Probably close to the truth but as in all things ALL is a push. E21's were better in terms of rust proofing than 2002's and there are still quite a few 02's with no rust. Getting rarer by the moment though, especially on the EC.

I have found a few without rust. Mine including it. thought it might begin to have rust after the snow storm we just had >.< This is the hardest it has hit in a long time.
slushy wet and muddy. also very cold driving a loner car till i get the e21 over here. hopefully this weekend. gotta figure out the turn signal mystery. hopefully its just a fuse or the bulbs. well i guess it wont be that hard to figure out theres only a 4th of the electronics on it that the e28 has.
so i imagine it shouldn't be that hard....
Turn signals not working... Most likely the Hazard switch is giving you problem. It's the most temperamental part on the whole car.
And I believe you about rust, my old Henna 320is had a dime sized piece of surface rust behind the rear light, but that was it for the entire car. They're just winding you up.

I'll have to check that out. Yea I took it out for another test drive today and will hopefully be bringing it home tonight around 3 I have them doing another 30point inspection. Hopefully it all checks out good again. It purrs and drives good. 1st a bit difficult to find sometimes but that will go away when the bushings are replaced. The seats are really really soft and springy which I don't mind just you bounce out of your seat on every bump. But the seat covers will fix that.
So the E-clip? keeps braking. Hes going to fix it for free since it broke from the first time he fixed it. I am having it redone completely which sadly is taking the rest of my money. I need to put power steering fluid in it. Ill have it cleaned up tomorrow along with pics.
I did find rust on it but only surface rust from where the primer has worn through. So nothing I am worried about ill cover it with something to stop it from going any farther. Its seems to have had some performance work done to it cause it raps up ridiculously fast and screams through the gears like there nothing. It does need work here and there. Oh and theres rust from the Cats back but thats nothing to serious. The radio works big plus to me considering the radio in the E28 didn't work..
The guy who is doing the work on it has master ASE certifications for damn near everything on a car. If there not a masters ASE certification its an Advanced certification. So i trust his judgment. plus hes a really down to earth guy which makes it easier to talk to him and work things out unlike several of the mechanics in this little damn town. The interior is in a lot better condition than I thought. Just need to do a little work to the center dash and tighten things up.
It has leaks at the chain tensioner cap and the valve cover but thats an easy fix. It needs bushings for the top struts there torn. I have no idea where im going to get the money for that. =/ Ill just have to be really nice to the car till I get the money. It needs some other work done to it like tires cause the sidewalls are cracked but that will also have to wait and I have no idea where I am going to find tires for 13" rims. Atleast it doesn't need as much work done to it like the E28. Oh and the brakes need bled. there filled with sediment and crap but thats something that wont take too long and I can do on my spare time.
mooseheadm5 wrote:Good luck! Take care of the brakes and tires before you do anything else. Make sure it is safe above all.
Thanks! I plan on doing the brakes tomorrow after noon over at advanced and the tires well I am still trying to figure out how I am going to get that done. =/ no one in town can get 13" tires so I am the hunt over the Internet.

I was curious, so I did a little searching. The typical size you'd hunt for would be 185/70-13 I would think. Tirerack had one tire in this size and Discount Tire none. However, both sources have numerous tires available in 175/70-13 size which would be fine to use on the car.
Be really careful with aged, dry-rotted tires. Make sure you keep them properly inflated and inspect the sidewalls, inside and out, for any bubbles/bumps.
If the brakes are filled with "sediment and crap", bleeding won't fix them. It's likely going to need rebuilding of the calipers and probably a master cylinder to get it straight. Don't forget the brake hoses which are likely dry rotted as well.

Ill have to get on that and price those parts then.

Are they summer or they all season*.
Oh and the vin is WBAAG330XD9004715

Good point. My O2 sensor light came on and now the car wont start. =/ I cant seem to find the O2 sensor. I wonder if that might be the problem is that it doesn't have one and its just now registering?

Found it, the wire going to it came off and now Its connected. But now the oil and O2 sensor lights are going on and off. That and as I was jacking it up on the jack i got from oreillys a litttle acdelco it fell of the jack and the the oil pan caught it Oh this really sucks. I have no previous knowledge of the car either witch adds to it. All i know is it can't be stock. Its way too fast and way too powerful to be 95 hp. It screamed past mustangs all day long.

It almost started. So I am lead to the idea its a spark problem. Im going down the line trying to figure it out the only thing i haven't checked yet is the spark plugs.
For 13" tires, check on the Federal 595s, available in the U.S. through an authorized Legend Cars dealer, or possibly on eBay. Lots of 2002 guys are getting them. http://www.uslegendcars.com/getting_sta ... _a_dealer/

Thanks ill get right on that! That is very helpful for finding tires for it.
* my car has a weird timer like counter on the dash when i start it it doesnt count miles it im not sure what it counts. But the longer it sits the more it drops. It was at 9 when it died and now its at 1. Im not sure that has to do with the fuel problem.
