Tuesday 12 Sept Update -

Todd has the engine back and is assembling it today. He will install it tomorrow and have it running by Friday. I will be going to get it on Tuesday 19 Sept. I will be there all day, stay the night and drive her back on Wednesday. We will have it on a Dyno on Tuesday if all goes well. We should have the 1 bar dyno numbers then.

I hope all goes well (and am sure that it will).

Can I ask how much the rebuild is costing?

I just want to get an idea of what a top-notch (re)build will cost when I cross that bridge.

You can tell me to piss off if you don't want to share $#s, but pls don't call me a fahk-stick <grin>.

Again, good luck, and I look forward to seeing your dyno #s. Thanks for keeing us all posting and allowing us to live vicariously through your wallet.

The cost of the engine rebuild - mainly short block, head only had to be decked and thus disassembled and reassembled.

The pistons were replaced and there some other parts but the machine shop cost with parts was $3200.

Then there is all of Todd’s time and labor.............more $$$.

You mean Todd didn't tell you? To save you some money, he's letting Harper reassemble the motor for you. :D

Breaking it in on the dyno, eh? Brave man. Hope it all works out as you hoped, I'm sure it'll freakin scream at 1 bar!

Andrew had a very short breakin and then dyno'd. They kept the RPM's under 5k.

It should be ready for 15 psi short runs by Wednesday. I have the Greddy EBC now so as soon as it has a couple thousand miles on it, Aquamist installed and EBC installed it will be dynoed to 20 or more psi.

Whatever it takes to get to 520 RWHP :D

Yep - I figure it is 600 HP at the crank which is my goal. That being, about 100 more HP than the M5 which ='s M5 smack-down.

You'd smack down a E60 ///M5 with 500hp. Your weight is 600lbs less......

i had 200 miles on the motor with 1 cylinder down when i went to the dyno for the break in tune. i thought we were going to keep it to like 10 psi and ultra conservative timing but my tuner left it at 20 psi and about 13 degrees timing. i just tried not to boost it for the next 800 miles (although i may have once or twice!) and i always kept the revs under 5000.

Todd just called and the engine is running. A few minor things to do and he is off breaking it in. We are looking to dyno it to 15 PSI on Monday.

Update -

Car is running but not on six cylinders. :bawl: An electrical problem has occurred in the TEC3 wiring harness and it is either spark or fuel related. Hopefully it will be diagnosed and fixed today. If not, I will fix it on Monday.

I am betting that one or more of the electrical connections to the fuel injectors is bad. Happened to me when I installed the system in Germany. A real PITA to figure out, I know now though. With a meter and a short amount of time it will be fixed. I will then spend Monday breaking it in and then hopefully dyno it on Tuesday.

Was that a special harness you purchased from somewhere for use with the TEC3? Custom built for you or by you? Just wondering.

They don't call 'em "project cars" for nothing, eh? :)

Was the GP harness provided by Electromotive. All wires had to be cut to length and have the connectors fitted. Was a PITA.

Off to Dublin in the morning. I will not return without the M535ti.

I have not seen the car in six months, will be a great reunion.

Will be nice to see Todd again too, it has also been a long time. We will put down some beer/wine together.
