 Good stuff your smoking lad? :rotz:
the 'Johnny Joint' is the original design that these have been modeled after. Since the other companies cannot outright copy the J-Joint design, they have to make some changes that can sometimes hinder the life of the joint. Im just saying that I can provide the 'original' joints that these 'copy' joints were based off of for a pretty good price. OP can either make more money or lower his price to you. I can possibly have them custom made since I work at the place that builds the 'original' J-Joint. Just throwing that out there is all.

edit- as I can't tell whos joints these are I cannot comment on whether they are good or bad, they might be just fine, Im just saying that ive seen a lot of bad knockoffs.

Thanks for the interest. I have PM'd you, because I am always looking for a way to lower prices. Us E28 guys are already screwed by the cost and availability of some stuff, so it is nice to be able to offer performance parts at a good price.

Paul,

when do you expect more? I'd like both LCABs and UCABs when you get some more.

I'm waiting to hear back about the price of the LCABs from the original supplier. Darrell is also getting me info in case we wanted to try a different supplier or in case we need to use a different supplier for the LCAB due to the dimensions. More details as I get them. Look for a new order thread very soon!

I will definitely do that. I need to come up with a better order system, since the emails and PMs got a bit out of control last time.

Well I was waiting to see if I could chain the next UCAB order together with an LCAB order, but I am sensing that the demand for the UCABs is great at the moment so I may just go ahead and put together another order of UCABs. I haven't gotten my LCABs and tested them yet and I don't want to take orders if they won't work out. The basic idea was to offer package deals and to save people on shipping. So, does everyone want to wait, or do you want UCABs now?

Does "wanting them now" equate somehow to "being able to afford them now"?

Pricing this time around?

by mooseheadm5
Dunno yet, it kinda depends on how many orders (though I will definitely order at least 25 pair.) Probably the normal retail price as listed in the first post in this thread, but I'll throw in free USPS shipping or the discounted price but shipping would be extra.

Speaking for myself, I know I need UCABs, I think the LCABs are fine. Stupid turbo heat does bad things to the urethane on the passenger side over time.

Fry,

I wouldn't mind upgrading to your spherical units. If I understand correctly NVH doesn't increase much if any at all over poly units?? I also like the idea of you lcabs but I have a feeling they wont be compatible with ALCAs...

Thanks,

Why's that? I do hope they are compatible with aluminum arms when they are finished...

I am making certain that they will be compatible with both aluminum and steel LCAs. The bushings are the same for both arms according to measurements I and a friend have taken. The hard part is making them worth buying. If the price is too high you can just get E31 arms (when available,) though you can't reuse those bearings.

"Frybrid" Its just a speculation, but I feel like I've read somewhere that you can ruin aluminum control arms if you try press in new bushings etc. Perhaps Paul, can chime in?

You can certainly ruin them if you do it wrong.

Ought to work fine since they are a semi ductile forged alloy and not brittle billet. Luckily our friend and humble narrator has a set of test quality alca's to punish on the press. One of them looks like it took a curb on the (oval) bushing seat so if THAT unit can take the pressure more gently used or new alca's ought to mate up real horrorshow. So long as alloy parts (like bike rims) are not heated carelessly or bent (back) the fatigue life is better than some steels even when drawn stupid thin (tubing and dies). Shit, a set of rebuildable, flex free bushings that will out last the ball joints (and not get gooey or squeak like poly) will double the resale of my eta.

Here you can see the roached part clearly, and smell the anticipation for just about every driver still putting up with OEM. Personally I'd rather do both at once than pulling the brakes and everything twice with the added bonus of not having to pre-load  Cant wait.
