Took the posse to a car show today downtown. It was called "Rims on the River". I bought a parking pass from some guy that was leaving for free. Meow.
Interesting choice of favorites among my ladies. I'm digging the ratty black 65 Lincoln while the girls flocked to the German cars. They liked the older Bugs and van campers while my wife liked the V12 60's Jaguars. Not a single BMW but I did see a guy who was wearing a hat with our logo. Show Fail.
Once I get my 80's 5er rolling, that hooptie will go directly to show mode here and I can finally tell every Camaro guy about my tool kit and blue rag.

I drove the Ranger for the first time in 3.5 months ! Only issues are the speedo cable and a few brake warning lights are on. Also the ABS light is on. Meh,
I have the clutch switches jumped out too. I roll started it in reverse at my sister's house. Haven't done that in 30 yrs. Rowed it around town , never getting into 5 th. Clutch engages very low, but it should ride up with wear. Other issues too, but for now it is adequate for my purposes.

My supervisor has been a little grumpy since he found out he didn't get the promotion but this morning's email is a bit over the top.

Hi Charles,
Your jeans look faded and should be replaced. The uniform policy Section C-29 page 2 states that pants are to be dark blue in color. If you have questions or concerns please let me know.
Thanks,
Tad

That is over the top--
I took the small age gap advantage when my boss told me my hair was not combed to his liking and replied, "of course your forgiven for saying so, Mike, you're old and out of touch.
Look around you."
ON another note: are HDD prices still stupid out of line...?
It looks like they are approaching the costs we saw prior to the tsunami. Poor south Asia.

What sucks is that now I have to use a sick day tomorrow and I don't like taking time off if the weather isn't going to be nice.

Yes. That's why I still have two empty bays in my MacPro. Blu-Ray archival FTW...
... but I would like a RAID 5 array sometime. That would be cool...

I'm about to press buy on the 3TB seagate external.... $149.
Someone tell me all this crap is not the reason my netbook is slow....
(I know the answer.... it's not... but I do need a few TB these days.)

The only bad Segate I've ever had has been an external one. Didn't die completely, but would crash at will. I was lucky I was able to move all the data off of it that I needed to save.

Just a Tad over the top.
Maybe you should inform Tad that
dark blue is pretty subjective; ask him for a more specific definition. That ought to help improve his mood.

Wait; I thought the weather was always nice in the other SD. You mean it's not?

If you guys think HD prices are out of line these days, maybe you should hop a ride in the Way-Back Machineā¢ to see what those puppies were selling for back in the early '90's. My first hard drive purchase around 1994 was a pair of 500MB SCSI drives to make a striped RAID on a Mac Quadra 950. $1400. That's 500
MB as in
megabytes.

Oh -- I remember!
$500 for 40mb ram in '94.
68040 Quadra 700 with 8mb onboard retailed for $4,250.00

Normally he's a pretty cool boss but this isn't the first time the hue of my group's Levis has been an issue. Out of ~100 of us that are considered 'field' people, my group of six are the only ones whose supervisor gives a rat's ass about it.
I think what bugs me the most is that he couldn't just mention it in passing at the coffee machine, he had to go on the intranet and research the actual rule number and then put it in an email.
davintosh wrote:Wait; I thought the weather was always nice in the other SD. You mean it's not?
It's great now but they were saying chance of rain tomorrow. Calling in sick the day after your balls have been busted over something stupid has been a long standing tradition at my agency but I decided that it would just be lowering myself to his level of pettiness (plus it's supposed to rain
) so I'm going in.

I really pissed off a friend today.
A guy he worked for died so I texted my friend using another phone saying I was the guy that died and that God gave us all iphones in heaven. I'm not sure if I'm an asshole or if my friend is a gaping vagina. I'm perplexed.

I'm sure he knows you well enough to get over it eventually. That's classic though. What else would he expect from you

No, that's classic asshole. Funny, though.

My wife wanted to make cornbread for breakfast the other day but didn't have any cornmeal in the house. We did have popcorn, so she through some in her fancy grain mill & ground it up. Made some tasty cornbread. Or rather,
popcornbread.
I was impressed anyway.

Had a great day of metal detecting. Spent 4 hours on some property on historic Misionary Ridge in GA. Came away with a musket ball and trolley tokens from the 30/40s. Not car related, but my hunting bud got a kick out of Das Boot.
