I'm gonna guess it's rolling at an undetermined speed because it wasn't going fast enough to even get the speedo off the needle :D

I know that shot

True, it was shot at walking speed...

This one is from midsummer race in south Sweden.

x2. Beautiful car, the taillights are probably the only thing I could afford on it.

Gray635 was selling a set last year, you might want to ask him. http://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?t=70176&highlight=

Hi guys!

Sorry for the bad updates on this thread.

The car has been competing this year as well, but with minor sucess. The clutch blew out after 4 laps into qualification on the first race of the year, next weekend, the motor ECU went bad and no more race that weekend either.
Then a few wet race weekends where the 335mm wide rear tires struggle for grip (even though they are grooved in rain setup).

The final race will be on October 9, and hopefully some good results then.

The M5 CSL is at BMW Sweden at this moment for the preimere of the new 5-series Touring model, they wanted some colourful attraction to get people to attend to the event.

The tail lights are produced by ourselves, and we do sell them. At the moment we are out of stock, as these babies tend to get sold out prettty quickly once we make a few.
Normally we do have a shop at www.kinnby.nu/shop , but its down at the moment. It will however get back up and running shortly.

More pictures from this years season will be posted here shortly, some bad ass race pics :alright:

Would you consider selling individual sets of widebody kits at a very high price instead of doing a group order? (To make it worth your time, materials, expertise, and cost of shipping 1 set to the U.S.) i.e. - $2000-3000(U.S.) or so? How much would make it worth your while? Maybe you can fund your racing selling these. I love your car too much to not have one myself.

Picture shows pit crew investigating what the mechanical terrible sound was, we found out it was the clutch blew out and destoyed the gearbox...
Image

Instead of racing, it ended up resting in the box...

The engine, while the clutch was blown.

A few E28 enthusiast are visiting the box and taking pictures of the M5 CSL, they had only seen it on the web up until this point, and are impressed about how much wider, lower and cruel it looks in real, haha, this we actually hear a lot. Pictures really do not do the car justice, it just wont tell the truth of its dimensions!
Image

From our latest race, this pic is take on the final laps of the second race, the front wheels are covered in brake dust, a few moments later the gear linkage was snapped off and the car was put to rest along the trackside... Bad luck continues...

And finally, a few pics of our race mechanics, it would not be the same to go racing without them, they keep the spirit real high when results seem to be out of reach...

Will find some more photos and post here real soon.

Race On!

Unfortunately not. We are using a 5-speed on this one, my opinion is that the S38 is strong enough to manage a 5-speed, no need for the closer 6-speed, at least not when having 4,27:1 in the rear differential as we do.

i was thinking about running the same diff ratio, that's why i wanted a 6-speed. but then i think the over drive gear is the same correct?

are you guys using a medium case diff with a z torsen diff?

Yes, its the "medium size" or 188mm size as BMW say, its the smaller ones fitted to E28´s. Its a rebuild limited slip insert giving somewhat 70% lockup and increased pre-tengthing.

I guess as you say, the 6´th and 5th gear is same ratio between those cases. Works fine for us.

oh ok. i was hoping that the 6th gear was different than the overdrive on the 5 speed... wanted to have a better ratio for daily driving haha.

so what suspension are you guys using? brakes? i'd throw a widebody on mine if i had the funds...

Yes, that would be perfect for daily use. The 6-speed cars have a tougher ratio in the rear though, so they get the best out of two worlds, a closer gearbox in the first 5 gears, and the overdrive on the 6´th in combination with a lower ratio in the diff, this means lower revs on the freeway.
You could swap the gears in your final drive, and get the better results, based on what you have today, I could help you find some suitable gears.

Suspension today is a custom buildt Bilstein Coilover chassis, its based on figures from the E24 635 CSi Group A racer that won some fights in Europe during the 1980´s. Its works ok but not more, the cost in europe was equal to 5000 USD for this a few years ago, and unfortunately we have to try something else during next season, those wide tires and the differences in the tracks we visit makes a non-adjustable chassis a bad choise.

Brakes are 6 pot calipers in front with 330mm discs, rear we use 4 pot calipers with 303mm discs.

I also run the company XYZ SWEDEN (www.xyz-sweden.com) and just finished develop a fully adjustable coiloverkit for the E28 for about 1200 USD, its then complete with camber adjustable top mounts and a 30 way shock stiffness adjustment. As far as i know, this is a rare product, and it took some beating until the manufacturer agreed to produce for us, the model is being seen as "outdated" unfortunately...

Regarding wide body kits, they are hard to get there and it takes some craftmanship to get them fitted properly and good looking, I wont ever do that operation again, even though I do have the molds for this one.

Some more pics from the last race weekend...

In the tent, waiting for race to begin...
You can see our Chevy Van G20 outside the tent, in same colours as the race car...

After race was started, it seem a bad choice to go out on slick tyres, even the track was wet, we thought it would dry up faster than it did, got understeer and went off, did some damage to the airdam and the left front wheel and had to visit the pits, so I finished in 22´nd place out of 37 cars... :(

The final race of the 2010 season is over.

Our E28 will need som warm and tender love during the winter to get back up there for 2011.

If anyone have a set of Left and Right hand grilles for the US Spec E28, I would be happy to purchase them, or trade for a set of Euro ones.

A sad car, waiting for the doctor...

I will sure do that, updates from restauration and improvements will be posted here during the next few months, 2011 season starts in May, so there will be time to fix her.

I would guess shipping charges are 20-30 USD, the grilles are light but size is what would maybe increase the cost.
I do have Pay Pal for smooth payment.

Do your tires come to you with painted lettering on the side walls, or do you paint them?
