I'm not familiar with the arrangement of the dash, so I'd have to have an E23 to inspect and a grille (or whatever console piece) to experiment with.

Is your console grille the same as the RHD ones fitted to US cars? If so, yes, as the grille is non-directional and for this purpose is symmetrical (cig lighter & ashtray position aside).

Yeah it's the same one. I didn't realize they weren't directional. That's good to know.

Just to be sure, these won't fit in an e24?

Have you been in an E24? The center console is completely different than what is pictured above.

I have no idea where I am on the "list" but I'm sure it will be awhile before I can get a switched version of the gauge mount.

Sport Comp II gauges require flat black trim paint for the rings but use LEDs and have block terminal connectors on the back FWIW.

It doesn't sound like you are speaking from direct knowledge, only from baseless speculation. If you know for sure that it won't fit, thanks, it is not hard to believe that it wouldn't. I don't have an e28 to compare my e24 to.

I have a sibling with an E24 and I have a non-switched Shawn D. gauge mount for my E28. You are welcome.

They will definitely NOT fit in an E24. Not only is the grille completely different, on the E28 there is just about an inch of free space between the grille and the fan housings, but on the E24, the fan housings have negative space -- they intrude into the grille.

But there was an ashtray 2 and 3 pod Solution offered at one time.... So yes, there is a solution... Just a little different location- that's all....
Now the question is, well you and Paul make them again!

There really wasn't anything like that "offered," but I did prototype one and never showed it to anyone.

Oh- I saw that info and loose pricing on your website a while back.. That is what lead me to believe there was a chance of at least a 2 gauge ashtray version being re-done...

Q:  Can you make these setups for E24s?  {Added 21 Nov 03}
A: Yes and no:  No, in that the E24 A/C grille is right up against the A/C housing (which actually intrudes into the grille fins), thus rendering it impossible to position gauges on the grille itself; yes, in that I can make a two-gauge setup to fit in the ashtray or a three-gauge setup which goes over the cigarette lighter and ashtray.  The two-gauge setup would be removable, but would leave small holes inside the ashtray area (not visible with the ashtray reinstalled and closed); the three-gauge setup would become an integral part of the piece and would not be removable.  Pricing is still up in the air, but would be in the range of $75 for a two-gauge “straight” setup, $100 for a two-gauge “angled” setup, $200 for a three-gauge “straight” setup, and $225 for a three-gauge “angled” setup; if you don’t understand what “straight” and “angled” mean, observe the pictures at the top of this page -- those setups are “angled.”

EDIT: I didn't post this to be a smart ass or anything... Just showing why I had an idea that an e24 version MAY be in the works too.... But most likely not- is that what I'm hearing?

Thanks

I will specifically state it so as to be clear: there is no E24 version in the works.

When that was written nine years ago, I said I "can" do it and that the price "would be" in those ranges if they were produced. I didn't say I was actually producing & offering them for sale, nor did I ever do so.

Did anything more come of the plan to put the mount back into production? Last post was May 14, then nothing...

In case they do become available some day, put me down for one. Thanks. :D
