Drove the 87 535isA in my sig, FOR SALE, to Johnny Carino's with my wife and had a nice fake Italian dinner.

Fake? I don't know about that. Their tiramisu is pretty close to authentic. That should count for something!

That's what I had for dessert.
While I was trying to figure out how to pronounce it, well, my wife did it perfectly.
Me, even now, looking at your post, still can't figure it out.

"tier-ah-mee-soo" is how I heard the little Italian guy that ran the restaurant on Staten Island pronounce it. Except he rolled his rrrr just a little bit. (In case anyone listening in has never tried it, try it; you'll like it. Very tasty!)

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming...

The only thing I've done with the e28 today is watch from the living room as my 16 year old son drove it away... Somehow that makes me nervous.

Put my new-to-me Hella H1/H4s in the 533 at about 1:15am.

Took it out for an uninsured/unregistered drive up and down the crappy country roads. Installed the stock radio from the parts car (the code was written in owners manual too! How convenient!) Fixed the broken hood release lever. Installed drivers kick panel, cleaned up the front wheels, and am still waiting on someone to help me roll the rear fenders to clear the 225's when I drop the rear...(no baseball bats, I saw that go VERY badly on a VW)....anyone?

I received two used hood shocks from a member and keyless entry from ebay. Just few more things before getting inspected.

Installed "new" front speakers from the parts car. Removed rear seat to change out parcel shelf and rear speakers. Currently wiring up 3rd brake light from the parts car. Also adjusted hood release cable. Getting ready to re-register and get inspected next month, hopefully!

The IS got tie rod ends,upper thrust arms and lower control arms. Now I just have to put the snow tires on when its get below 5C consistantly. No snow yet.

Took apart my center console...cleaned the powerseat switches that the previous owner had spilled soda all over....fixed both power headrests....fixed the panel hanging down underneath the steering colum....by properly securing it.

Then a wash/wax. Fun day.

Haven't seen my e28 all day... My teenage son drove it to school, where he boarded a bus at 5 am for a marching band competition trip. They won't be back in town until 5 am tomorrow morning. No idea why this wasn't an overnight trip.

Yesterday though, I did run a bunch more carb cleaner through the ICV, then last night I lubed it a bit, put it back together & took it for a drive; now it idles at a ROCK SOLID 750 RPM!

So very pumped about that!

Fixed my goddamn squealing heater blower with some WD-40 and contact cleaner. Hope it lasts for awhile. Not looking forward to dealing with this same issue on my E36. Found some write-ups on the E36 blower remove/replace and it's like disassembling the freakin' reactor core on a submarine compared to the E28.

WD-40 probably won't last until Monday. Get a "Zoom Spout" oiler from a hardware store (they carry them at Ace - ask for John Madden). They're in the evap cooler section (if you even have such a thing where you're at).

I just did this to my 535is. Unfortunately, this car has the gasoline cooler, which makes it difficult to remove the panel enough to take the blower motor out.

So I didn't. I pulled the fan covers off but left the motor in place. I lubricated the bushings using the motor oil on the dipstick. The squeak went away, so I'm figuring I'm good.

No sir. Most 535is examples have them - as far as I know. I first thought it was a regional thing, but after seeing cars with them in all parts of the country, I guess not.

Basically, they ran fuel lines next to the AC lines on the right side of the motor, so what happens is the fuel lines come up the left side as usual, but go in the cowl where the heater motor is, then out on the right, along the AC lines and back the same way to the left side of the motor. Basically, it makes your heater blower replacement a PITA that it wasn't originally meant to be. Of course, if you don't care if it works (unlike me), it's pretty easy.

The caveat is that it is only useful if you're running the AC.
