B on B M5 RR parcel shelf

Just picked up US spec Black on Black M5 VIN WBSDC9307J2875230 sourced from NM (discussed on other for sale threads earlier this year) - nice car. One thing I'm surprised at is the blue rear parcel shelf - is this typical or a warning sign of some sort perhaps?

Great to hear of another car.
Yes, a blue rear parcel shelf is a little strange.
Could be someone ruined the original with speaker install or it warped.
Should be black like everything else.

Would you please send me the complete VIN and your name and location?
Like to add you to the list.

Some photos would be nice?

It's pretty standard that the black parcel shelves fade to blue. You'll have to redye.

looks like this?

Guess my car has never seen enough sun for that to happen. Didn't think it would fade that bad.

Yes that pic looks like my parcel shelf color..I'll stop worrying about it.

Gary, I'm on the list already, added 3/26/14.

Thanks, Mark

Hello all. This is my first post here, but I've been lurking for years. After a year of searching, a decade of considering and a couple decades+ of longing, I finally picked up an e28 M5. I really only wanted a black on black, so feel lucky to have found one. Along the way, I've enjoyed an S54 M Coupe, 1994 E500 and now an RS4 as my DD (well, now wife's DD).

The car is in good shape, but definitely shows its 173K miles. I already have some new parts with more on the way. The (very) cracked dash is probably the highest cosmetic priority. The engine pulls strong, but I think I need to adjust the idle. Mechanically, I will likely replace all of the control arms and bushings, many of which are visibly shot. There's a very bad driveline noise under load, which I need to address. Finally, I'm not a fan of the B&B cat-back exhaust and will likely replace it with OEM if I can get my hands on one of the remaining systems.

The forum has already helped me fix my passenger seat motor. I'm sure I will learn a lot more as I get into it.

Best,

Wow Jason congratulations.

Your car VIN is the one before mine.
I started this list in 2010 to see how many we might find.
Thanks for signing in.
I guess it's ok to put you name on the list since you included it and the VIN.
You are the 11th listed owner. Gee we may get to 50% of the 30 someday.
Thanks.
Where was the car before you got it?

It looks great and glad someone got it that will take care of it.
See you're near SF.
In 2016 it will be the 100th anniversary of BMW. Big events and OFest planned in Monterey and Laguna Seca.
Put that on your calendar. Should be spectacular.

Not sure if I will bring the M5 or the 72 3.0 CS I am currently working on. I drove the coupe to Colorado this summer and back. 4000 miles.
Keep us up to date on your car and if I can help in any way please let me know.
Welcome to the BB list. My tag is 88 M5 BB.

Gary:

Thanks for the warm welcome. I've followed your posts with a lot of interest and admiration. This car came from Brentwood/Nashville, TN. I'll mark my calendar for the BMW event - sounds fantastic.

Thank you so much for offering to help. I am certain I will take you up on it soon!

Best,
Jason

How does a Black interior Canadian car differ? Does it make the car less valuable? I'm considering a Black on Black e28 M5 but it's a Canadian car in the US.

Thanks in advance.

Yes I am, thus the reason why I ask. Maybe it doesn't effect anything. Please educate me :)

Rare E28 M3. It's Perlbeige on Diamantschwarz, however.

Hey puma,

The guys on here can be pretty cynical and are giving you a hard time because you asked about an E28 M3
M3 no, that is a different model. The E28 is an M5. So lets just get to what I think you are asking.
Other than the speedometer being different (kilometers vs. miles) there probably isn't too much difference between a Canadian black interior M5 and a US black interior M5.

The reason the black interior US cars are more valuable is because there were only 30. Please read the info here about the black interior cars.

Now watch because I said "more valuable" this will start a blast about how this isn't true etc, etc.
I think they are more valuable because I own one.

My bad I was typing too fast and didn't notice...yeah I meant e28 M5.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully I can find a car in my budget. I recently gave up the decade long search for an e30 M3 as they are now out of my financial reach for what I want to do.

Thanks again.

Sir,

You need to read the beginning of this thread.
This sign up is for the 30 US cars not the Canadian cars that all had black interior.
I appreciate your enthusiasm and glad you're an M5 owner but please delete your post.
Your car is NOT one of the 30 according to the VIN you submitted.
Thanks,
Gary

Congratulations and welcome.

So you bought Brady Tanners car.

Would you mind giving us your name and I will change the info at the beginning of this thread to your name.
Tell us a little about the car. Mileage, mods, etc.

Actually bought it from the guy that bought it from Brady!

My name is Brandon Raap, and the car is bone stock. 100% original...with a measly(get this) 350k miles! Though you'd never know it, as the original paint looks fantastic and the interior is damn near new! I'll post some pics as soon as I have them handy..

Is there a way to update this entire list? I imagine some of the cars from the beginning of this thread have new owners by now, especially with the rising prices. Not mine though:)
