Did some work on the rally car, got creative and installed a set of e36 328i shocks and springs in the rear, and chopped off the rear muffler. It's got nice ride height and ground clearance now, and is much firmer which is a huge improvement over the stock stuff. We'll still need new struts and springs in the front as the e36 stuff is not an easy retrofit and the front end is too soft, but the rear end is a huge improvement.

Bought m52 to replace the 5 cyl m50 in the touring. Maybe I'll finally swap in the 5 speed and rear end too...

Changing the microfilter in my E90:
15 minutes: actually changing the filter
45 minutes: cleaning every surface under the hood on the way in and out
5 minutes: resetting the light
5 minutes: pondering if I was about to loose another coil

E36 Joy: Picked up a set of 15" style 41 wheels with 70% tread tires and new looking used front bilstein sports with springs for $250.
No idea what springs. (They are black with three red stripes down the coils. M3?) But for that price who cares.

Motor showed up yesterday. Going to be a long winter project, but should transform the ol' bag quite nicely.

I let the muffler mud cure over the weekend. Today, I made the rubbish run and the Rat is quiet. I'll try for a sticker Friday.

On the 750iL- put the fully functioning factory radio back. Didn't test the tape deck. Needs new rear speakers. Pass door lock disassembled, loosened. Working properly again.

E39 Baselining: Differential Fluid service

e31 - oil change & replace broken horns
e4dRanger - oil change, grease fittings and top fluids
e38 - (done last week) oil pan gasket, radiator/t-stat, re-clamp P/S hose, steering linkage and tie rod ends.
All cars legal and no drips, yay!

I spent the entire day driving in the snow today wishing I could trade my DTC for an LSD in my E90. Yes, i know you can retrofit an LSD in there but its probably not worth it to me.

I am going to go change the oil and replace a headlight in the Landbruiser. Kinda dark and rainy out there and I've got to finish this Ballast Point "Victory at Sea" porter, maybe watch an episode of Breaking Bad. Probably lead to another porter. Probably nothing will get done. Nevermind.

Replaced the Forester's 9 month old Advance Auto Chinese made alternator with another re-man Chinese alternator.
At least it only takes 10 mins to swap out. Took me longer to reprogram the radio and clock.

Success!! Drained out 5 quarts and then Truckasaurus took @8 quarts of Mobil1 5w30 syn, warmed first to room temperature and tasted for freshness, just for you oil Nazis.
I only quaffed 2 beers during the long afternoon, and sent 4 texts while underneath watching the oil drain.
Headlight bulb was warrantied so 2014 is looking pretty sweet so far.
Felt adventerous so I conditioner the leather. Found some money and some french fries. You know I ate them, they taste the same BTW.

I went out and checked the specific gravity on the 750iL because I realized it was going to be -3 tonight. I might have frostbite on my left index finger but I know that antifreeze isn't going to freeze the block.

Installed Andy's MoBrighta bulb carrier on the e30 and swapped in a good reverse light switch.
I'll get a picture of the MoBrighta tail action when it is warmer.

The driver's side door lock mechanism has been terrible sticky in cold weather, and not letting the door shut until heat from the cabin loosens up the white lithium grease I used to lubricate it. Today I pulled the mech back out, hosed it down with some brake cleaner, then re-lubed it with some Tri-Flow. Works like it's s'posed to now.
The next couple of days will be the real test though; tonight's low is expected to be -9°F, and tomorrow night's low -21°F.

We're looking at -15 Tuesday sometime. Check the specific gravity on those cars' coolant!

I need to do this to the e38. I had to bungee the passenger door shut in order to drive to work the other day. Was relieved when it started working again after it warmed up.
