The non-affiliated cars for sale thread... (1/2012)

by rmiddendorf
Lets post all our non-affiliated cars for sale here in this thread which we can cycle monthly. This series was previously known as 'Rodney's interesting CL find thread...' now with a new name, but the same amazing result!

I have No Affiliation with these cars or sellers unless otherwise noted and cannot endorse them but am putting them here for discussion and your own edification.

Seems a bit pricey for a 528e with 220,000 miles on it... but if its really in as good of shape as he claims it to be then perhaps its not as much of a stretch. :dunno:

Car is in great condition and has been aggressively maintained while I have had it. I can provide all of my service records and you can talk to Jacob at Hash to get his honest review of the vehicle.

This car is well worth it and one of those sought after body styles. It took me a year of searching to find it. It has about 220,000 miles on it. The odometer went out last year and the speedometer is a little moody. I just put a new blower motor in it and it has a lot of other fresh parts, tires, clutch, master & slave cylinder, starter and almost brand new belts & wiring harness. Brand new stereo and all four speakers that cost me $1,000.00

Interior is clean, with expected wear and tear. The exterior is is very good shape with a few small rust spots around trunk and door jams. According to NADA descriptions I think this car falls between Average and High Retail value so at $4,200.00 it still represents a discount.

The following is taken DIRECTLY from the NADA Book and the basis for the price I am asking which is really a discount from numbers below considering the condition of the car.
"Average Retail Value ($4,700.00) - Vehicle should be in good condition overall. It could be an older restoration or a well-maintained original vehicle. Completely operable. The exterior paint, trim and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out.
High Retail Value ($6,350.00) - This vehicle would be in excellent condition overall. It could a completely restored or an extremely well maintained original vehicle showing very minimal wear and tear. The exterior paint, trim and mechanics are not in need of reconditioning. The interior would be in excellent condition. Note: This value dows not represent a "100 point" or a #1 vehicle"

Reply with information if you are interested...cash offers in person only please.

I do not expect this to last long.

Known as the "Ferrari in Street Clothes" - this car is in fabulous shape and runs like a dream. New engine rebuilt 2 years ago and has 30K miles on it (I have all the records for the rebuild, over $8500).

The car has black exterior with tan interior and has multiple upgrades:

Dinan chip

Dinan stage 1 suspension

larger cam,

trunk mounted 6 CD changer. This car has been garaged and kept in fantastic condition with detailing twice a year.

Brand new tires.

All service records available.

Hate to sell my pride and joy but college tuition takes priority.

I am the 2nd owner. Serious inquiries only as a true BMW enthusiast will understand the value of this immaculate car.

Thanks for looking!

That wide-body is screaming for someone to rescue it; those white seats scare the crap out of me though.

First order of business would be to toss those stoopid stretched tires. That right there would boost its salability by orders of magnitude.

Look at the driver's seat closely- it looks like its vinyl but that the rest of the car appears as original leather. Still a good add to the thread.

Runs and drives.Sounds very mean. Will need to be trailord home, Will drive on trailor. Needs water pump, recommend changing the timing belt while in there. Have new water pump and timing set included. Have all receipts from performance motor build up. E brake works. Tach works, Fuel gauge works. Car is limited slip diff. Tokiko shocks, slotted rotors, lowering springs. The motor has had new cams, SS valves . Passenger side Quarter needs fixed. Has dents from being used as a track car. Make no mistake this a project car and would make an excellent Daily driver / track day car. Has Non original bucket seats in it out of a 99 Grand Am They are not bolted down. It has a good title but it is flagged as a rebuilt car. 765-366-3174 NO calls or texts after 9pm. Will trade for things that go bang nothing else.Must be OF EQUAL VALUE

Are you kidding me? "Runs and drives.Sounds very mean" but then "Will need to be trailord home"?!!? What kind of crack/cocaine is this guy on? Does the car look like it runs and drives? Hell no. And $1800? For what? Is there a gold bar in the trunk? And "Needs water pump, recommend changing the timing belt while in there" isn't exactly a glowing endorsement either.

I mean look at the grass there:

1986 E28 BMW 535i (5-speed/iS spoilers/lowered/BBS RC090 wheels) - $5000 (Monroe)
Date: 2012-01-03, 5:26PM EST
Reply to: sale-dqtkv-2781759916@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]
Available is my '86 BMW 535i in Delphin grey with comfort Cardinal leather interior. I inherited the car from my sister-in-law's father who was a BMW enthusiast. The car has 177,644 original miles and has been in the family since 1992. No expenses were spared to maintain this vehicle throughout his ownership. The car spent a good majority of this time in California used while visiting their second home. I received the car in its original state and the only work that had been done, beyond routine maintenance, was a respray to all panels except the roof and trunk. The roof shows the typical paint wear area towards the middle while most of the panels look exceptionally good given the age of the car. There are a few minor rust spots in the typical areas for this car; license plate lamp surrounds, bottom corner of front fenders where they meet the door, and one spot on the passenger rear fender directly behind the wheel.

Since receiving the car the following new parts have been installed: B&B (Tri-Flo or Billy Boat) stainless steel exhaust with dual double-wall tips, front factory headers including new catalytic convertor, power antenna, custom re-wrapped M3 steering wheel with tri-color stitching, R134 AC conversion, front lower control arms, front sway bar links, center driveshaft bearing, guibo, leather shift boot, custom Lloyds front floor mats, custom front windshield sunshade, 3M window tint installed by Solar Tint, Bavarian Autosport high-performance ignition wires, Bosch spark plugs, iS front/rear spoilers painted in Delphin grey, front driving lamps, Hella Euro E-code H4 headlamps (high/low), HID low beam conversion (does throw error since current draw is too low-easy fix), tail lamp seals, Alpine CDA-9883 cd player with KCE-422i iPod cable (wired to glovebox), shift linkage (OEM Z3 short-shift kit), Bilstein Sport suspension, Bavarian Autosport lowering springs, and BBS RC090 17" wheels with new Kumho Ecsta AST tires (5th wheel included but will require refinishing).

Other highlights to mention: trunk toolkit is complete including cloth, front bumper has been "lipo'd" (unmolested set of front bumper shocks included to revert back to original look), crack-free original dashboard, all electronics work, eligible for historical license plates, new oil filter and drain plug included, new tie rods included, service manual, original owner's manual, and original factory removed parts included with sale (steering wheel, shift knob, shift boot, front driving lamps, and ignition wires).

Car looks absolutely amazing for 25+ years old. I seldom drive the car and the only reason I am selling is that we are moving out of state and do not have the indoor space available. The car is a driver but could also be a garage queen with little work. The areas I had planned to address next were: clutch, install included tie rods, purchase/install center drag link, correct issue with coolant sensor (coolant level is correct but error light is displayed. New sensor resolved issue but then reoccured weeks later.), correct minor rust issues, and change oil. Car drives fine, in my opinion, but clutch feels different compared to my daily driver. Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions you may have. This car is worth seeing and you won't be disappointed. I apologize for the lack of photos but I did not plan on selling when I put the car away for the Winter. The asking price is $5000 O.B.O.

Kind regards,

Jason

1990 BMW 535i (e34) for sale. I have driven and maintained this car for 17 years. It is mechanically sound. Famously 'bullet proof' 3.5 liter straight six engine. Many new and upgraded parts including M5 sway bars, shock tower brace, new windshield, new headliner, new driver's door exterior handle/ locking mechanism and door check, new ignition lock/switch, new hood and trunk lid shocks, Michelin tires with half life remaining, 'Business' radio that includes a dedicated weather channel. Shocks and springs are solid. Air conditioning works. The original paint is good (predictable flaws for it's age) with the exception of oxidation on the hood. All lighting works. All windows and sunroof operate smoothly. Cruise control works. Brakes are good. This car is solid and cruises very politely and quietly and highway speeds. I have seen other ads for this car online as high as $4,000.00 so the $2,250.00 price is fair.

And finally I have to post this because I think he did such a great job of covering all angles of the car. Almost (if not) full disclosure. All other sellers should use this ad as an example of how to properly represent. Of course there are the douches out there who try to offer a barely running E30 with 10' tall grass surrounding it and they're beyond help. They just need to quit.

But back on point this car looks sweet and looks properly represented.

I also think its an awesome car. I'd consider it but I think the price is going to skyrocket.

Jason

Too bad that car is where it is. Pretty much exactly what I'm looking for except for the rust I can see on the car from here.

An '83 533i 5-speed on CarsForSale.com; looks clean.

Image

The view from the driver's seat shows some funky wiring going on near the ignition switch, but that same view, beyond the cracked windshield, reveals another e28 on the lot. Hmmm...

1991 BMW 318is - $2000 (Hamilton)
Date: 2012-01-07, 9:26AM EST
Reply to: sale-h6ybb-2755016674@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]
I'm looking to sell, or trade my 91 318is. Found a car I wanted and I'm trying to sell this week. I am FIRM on $2000. I'm willing to trade up or down for another car. No real reason to get rid of it, I'm just trying to get into something different for a little until I leave for the Navy. The car is an Alpine 1991 318is, with a black interior. The inside is in amazing shape. Drivers seat is the only problem, has one crack that is a couple inches long and the left bolster needs to be replaced. The dash has a couple small cracks like usual. Also, the odometer was working intermittently when I bought it and has since stopped completely at around 172k. The exterior is pretty clean and looks great after a hand wash and wax. It could use a new front valance and trunk. My car is basically stock, no real modifications; e36 e-fan, no power steering, a replacement muffler and new fuel pump. The car also has newer tires that are not even a year old. I love this car and have had it for just short of a year. Has been a great daily driver for me, I drive it everywhere, and it gets good gas mileage. If anyone is interested, text or call me at 513-405-4523.
