If you don't care enough about what you have to say to say it properly, why should we?533ib33 wrote:Its a car forum, not a spelling bee< but thanks for the advice and the welcome
You didn't have to say you were new here, we can tell. Welcome all the same.533ib33 wrote:Its a car forum, not a spelling bee< but thanks for the advice and the welcome
You say that as if you think it's 'just' a car forum. It's not. If you've been around other car forums, you'll notice this one is different in character. Certainly, we'll all use l33tsp33k or slang or vernacular at times. That's a lot of what makes this place more interesting (and sometimes more annoying) than other car forums. But when it comes down to asking questions and providing useful information, it's best to do that right. That means using the proper terms if you know them (and spelling them right) and using proper sentences.533ib33 wrote:Its a car forum, not a spelling bee< but thanks for the advice and the welcome
Sorry C.R. , you left something out. "Trust me: this is the absolute best E24 resource anywhere.....C.R. Krieger wrote:You say that as if you think it's 'just' a car forum. It's not. That also means doing some research first because, honestly, there's very little you're likely to need to know that we haven't already discussed and answered here. A really good starting place is the Tech FAQ. Look over all of those posts. There are no threads there; they're all single posts to address single issues; and there's only two pages of them. I feel quite comfortable betting you lunch (or beer) that the very first issue you have with your E28 will be one of those. I'll bet you even more that your car will have at least one of those within the first year you drive it (Bets are off if you 'garage queen' it.). We put those there so they're easy to search and find, because they're all very common issues (that we got tired of answering over and over), and because they've been 'vetted' by the group as valuable, correct, and accurate.
You've already been advised to get a Bentley manual, so I can skip that. Finally, you'll do much better here if you start to regard it as a community of friends, not as a cyber-forum of strangers you can piss off and throw away. Trust me: this is the absolute best E28-specific resource anywhere, so if you want to have fun and keep your E28 on the road, you don't want to piss off the amazing panel of experts and Old BMW GeeksĀ© we have here. We can be more helpful than you can imagine, even among those of us who have never met face to face. So don't say nobody told you how to behave.

This collective community saves me time and money on a regular basis. Plus daily comedic breaks by Oldskool. What more do you want?
I figured that, but I didn't want to complicate matters. I am curious though; what's in second place?mpowertech wrote:Sorry C.R. , you left something out. "Trust me: this is the absolute best E24 resource anywhere.....
Seriously???? There is no second place. This forum, is the absolute definition of perfection. Could you ever imagine a group of hundreds of BMW techs in your living room/basement at your ready, more than willing to help your latest problem? I spend wayyyyy too much time over here. But I love it! I wish I could tell everyone on here, collectively, how much I appreciate their help, but I guess I'm doing that now...C.R.
