FWIW, earlier this year, I sold my nicely-kept 1991 M5 (same color scheme) but with 186k miles for just over ~$8500 and was happy to get it. If this car is as clean as it looks, it is well priced. Odd about exhaust tips though. They may have fallen off?

Please PLEASE excuse my majoy ignorance with the topic. How is that these cars are so much less to purchase than the e28 ///M5? Is it just that they were not as rare or desirable? I'd love to scoop up an M5 for under $10k for the wife to drive. lol.

I am pretty sure those numbers are pretty correct. '92 is quite rare but not much different compared to '91. The big differences came in 1993 with the M mirrors, darker wood trim and some stuff I am forgetting. Highly desirable and in good condition those can touch 20k easily. After 1993 as most of you probably know there was no more E34 M5 in the US while in Europe the S38B38 was deployed. Here in 1994 and 1995 we got 540 M-Sport (only 139 http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh ... ?t=1340651) based on 540i/6 (1524 http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh ... ?t=1357930 ).

I use www.bmwmregistry.com for all of my M-related information needs.

Her '92 just became rarer.

I am the source . The correct numbers for the North American M5 are 121 for the 1992 model year and 261 for the 1993 model year.

FWIW: The owner tells me it has aftermarket exhaust and he cut the tips because they looked ugly. Never got around to fixing it. The engine and other things needed more attention.

I'm the owner of this sweet ride. This is my 5th M car I've owned and will miss it but looking for a bigger car like a x5 or x3. I also have a e30 M so I guess the M5 has got to go. I think the price is far and it shouldn't last long. I might just put skittle more money into the cosmetic stuff and put the price where other e34 Ms are sitting at 9-12k.
