I would have trouble believing that an '84 633i with an auto is 'still very fast' but to each their own I guess.

Maybe his last car was owned by Fred Flintsone in which case an auto e24 would be quite quick! Speed is all relative I think. My 6 is super fun to drive, but the word fast doesn't enter my mind...not even if it was a manual. Just sayin'...

I spoke with him in passing about this one. Sounds like he's putting a lot of $$ into maintenance.

Ah! It *is* Chris Jones' other wagon. The one I did NOT get to drive. Thanks for the pointer!

I tend to agree but it depends on what it has had done to it. If the chain, guides, and associated components have been freshened, and the head has been freshened, then it is a fair price even at that mileage. If none of those things have been done, it's a $10k car you are going to spend at least another $5k on soon -- if not more -- to attend to those items if you want the car to be able to be driven enthusiastically with confidence. Just my .02.

My guess is he snapped up the one that was on BAT in FL a couple of weeks ago and is now going to sell the same car "after a comprehensive service" for 40% more.

Too true. That ~20's price was quite attractive, though I didn't see it on BaT. When I saw the ixT for sale I should have looked around for the M5T or even just reached out to Chris. I ended my daily BaT mail delivery last summer after buying the RetroMom wagon. Probably a good idea, but it does mean that I miss some tantalizing prospects.
I rely on you guys and these NA threads. Frankly, that's plenty of juice.

I agree with this statement exactly. I would like to think that would have been mentioned in the ad if it has been done recently.

Just found a euro e23 with Buffalo interior.
http://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/3001723819.html
**Euro** BMW 735i (Imported from Germany) - $1900 (Wichita, Ks)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is your opportunity to own a Classic Euro-BMW 735i! I have owned this car since 2004, originally I planned on completely renovating it (including painting it), but only got as far as doing tune-up, brakes, fluids, etc. The car runs VERY strong, it has the BULLET PROOF 3.5L straight 6, fresh oil change (no engine leaks and no smoke), (w/timing chain, so you don't have to worry about those stinking timing belts). Much of the body has already been sanded and primed, just needs a fresh coast of paint. The heavy duty olive green leather interior w/burl nut wood trim is in good condition for an '85. Power windows, seats, sunroof, cd stereo, heated seats, etc. Car will come with the 3 extra wheels/tires as shown in the pictures. This would be a nice summer time project (or if you just want the car for it's classic bumpers, engine, etc.) for someone who can appreciate Home Grown German Quality! Call 316-243-5954, and make me an offer! Clean title in hand. Cash only.

If it doesn't need a lot of work that price would be fair IMO. Its a higher mileage car, but if it were lower the price would be much higher. IIRC the last few ones I've seen have been in the $40ks.
