Of course is failed, did not expect it to pass.
1985 Euro M5
M88/3 motor
Has a factory E28 S38 cat welded in
No O2 sensor
Autothority Software
91 octane Mobil fuel
I need to get a stock chip (looking for one). Once we do that, we are going to introduce a vacuum leak via a fixed oriface to bring the CO down. It will be intersting to see if the stock chip will bring the HC and NOX within spec. Hopeing that the vacuum leak will not raise HC and NOX too much.
That is the 1st plan of attack. Not expecting this to be a quick deal. Will probably be working on it for some time.
Got a baseline on the emissions today for the M5....

MA uses gpm as a baseline too. Both the Borman6 and Swarz flunked NOX by a few percent. On the borman6, I lowered NOX by 60% by replacing the O2 sensor and new plugs. I also de-carbonized the combustion chambers with a pint of water sucked in through the cabin temp sensor vacuum line. Then I followed up with a can of Seafoam carbon cleaner following the instructions on the can. Then I filled up with 93 octane with a dose of GTA fuel enhancer. Before I took the cars in for a re-test I ran them 50miles at high speed for an Italian tuneup. Granted these are stock etas, but NOX is NOX..........Cleaning out the carbon will lower it and so will the 93 otane and the fuel enhancer. Also you can retard the timing on the motronic 1.0 by diddling with the fuel quality switch. The Italian tuneup is good because it heats up the cat................
