first time it has mattered when I am taking one out, yes on the parts cars I clipped them, now I have to do it right.....
My car is 1/86 so it has the earlier style cables, do I take out the little screws in the lever mechanism and unwind them from the little posts??
Can I install the later model ones from My M5 partscar??
Please don't email me for parts off the M5, they're all gone.....Sorry

Just so I understand your question. You want to remove the three slider control out? If that is the case it is real straight forward. IIRC, there is a dark metal "clip" on each slider that holds the cable in place. You will have to "un-hook" the cable as well.
In the pic below, the green arrow points to where the clip would be, the red one to where the cable goes. btw, this is a newer control with the electric fresh air flap.

Aahh, see that is where the problem is, the newer style the cables have like little "T"'s on the end and they just slide out....been there and done that...the older style looks to be wrapped around a post and Bentley is a bit vague on the instructions.... but thanks for the help.....
nice pics for instructions on the newer style cables though...
