E39 Style 32 Question
Last year I purchased a set of 17" E39 Style 32 wheels, knowing they would need to be repainted soon. There are quite a few chips and flakes of the paint are coming off the wheels. It appears as though the p/o used harsh wheel cleaner and it destroyed the finish on the wheels. My question is this: What kind of paint is used in this application? The wheels are finished in a gunmetal/brilliant paint, and the paint almost seems like a powdercoat.

If it is the brilliant finish, then it is powdercoated. Your have two basic options.
1. Repowdercoat
2. Wet sand and repaint with worths paint and then clearcoat them.
I picked up a set this week in the same condition for a very low price. I plan to have them repowdercoated by Savannah Powdercoat. It's a great shop. It's one of the few shops that Duke will use since they do such great work.

I'd like to jump onto this thread also if I may.
Firstly, check with RonP, he just repainted his and they look great. I believe he used Wurth paint.
Secondly, I have a set I just bought which are chrome. One wheel needs rechroming and my question is, where to take for rechroming, or better yet, how much would it cost to DE-chrome?
Thoughts?
