does the snap on MT2500 have a OBD connector for my 1986 535i? Or is there any other way to scan the codes for my car?

the red brick will not scan our cars. actually nothing will scan our cars unless you have a late 87-88 production 528 with the motronic 1.1. The motronic in the e28 535 does'nt store codes or give its information out. the only way to diagnose a problem with our cars is good old fashioned testing with a d.m.m. and a trouble tree if you can find one.

hope this helps.

What is a trouble tree? or can I fit the motronic 1.1 harness and ECU in my car?

You can adapt the later Motronic used in the E32/34 and late E24 6er to the E28. You need the ECU, appropriate sensors, and the engine harness from a late production E24 635csi.

Shouldn't cost you much more than retrofitting a Megasquirt. You just won't have the same tuning capabilities. You're still stuck with a chip.
