How to make a righteous glass of Iced Tea. . .

Bring 4 cups of water to a seething boil, no pussy-footing around here. This is serious sh*t. Open up and sniff 6-8 tea-bags. About 6-8. No more, no less. Don't get greedy. Damn.
Let steep for 8-10 minutes, no longer! Are you paying attention?! Add some damn baking soda to cut the bitterness, (about a 1/8 tsp) to the bottom of your jug. Strictly the bottom. Only the bottom. Glass jug preferably, too. Did I mention your bottom? You Cheeky Monkey.
Fill the glass jug with ice and cold water, leaving enough room for you to pour your steeped tea over the top of the other, very complex ingredients. Add mint and lemon at will.
YMMV and I'm sure there are better recipes. Hell, a picture of Ice-T would probably be better right about now.

I'll pass it along to the little wifey and the kids.
Got several T lovers in the fam.

Thanks...

The way I was taught...

And I don't want to hear anything about it not being right, she's from New Bern by way of several generations, not like your carpetbaggin' ass...

4 cups of water, hot. Boil it or microwave it, don't make a bit of difference. Put 6-8 regular size or 3-4 family size teabags in the hot water.

Put your sugar in the hot water so it melts and makes a sweet syrupy base.

Add cold water and ice until you get the color. You'll know it when you see it.

I agree with OS on the pitcher, it should be glass and thick. Serve in mason jars or other appropriately thick glass.

I drink ice tea every day all day.

2 "family size" Community brand tea bags
6 1/2 cups of water in a 6 cup measuring cup
Put the tea and the water together and stick them in the microwave for 2 minutes
Go take your morning shower
1 lemon and 5 sweetnlows.

Pour a little off the top into a cup with ice for the commute, and the rest into a 1 quart container. If you start to run out, just add more water from the drinking fountain.

I used to drink one (1) barqs root beer in the morning for the caffine and sugar jolt. I switched to tea and lost 5 lbs. No shit. Never could do coffee.

I do two quarts of water to a boil, add 3 Lipton tea bags, let it steep for about 20 minutes and then pour into a glass half gallon bottle that used to be how something was packaged. I think it was for Kerns Nectar back in the '80s. Used to drink the shit out of that stuff. As I drink it, I use some of that crappy lemon juice in a bottle. I think I will try the baking soda in the jar though. I don't use any sweeteners.

Right now, I've got two favorite teas - the China Mist passion fruit stuff at Panda Express and the Mango iced tea from Paradise Bakery. Tried the teas at QT and found they tasted like battery acid.

Thank you; so far you're the only one to recommend a particular flavor. The mega grocers these days must count it a badge of honor to have their customers' eyes glaze over when trying to decide which flavor of anything to buy. My wife likes hot tea and has a plastic shoebox in the pantry with about 143,000 different tea flavors in it. I'm sure storing them together makes the flavors meld somewhat, bu she doesn't seem to mind. It's been a while since I last made iced tea, but I usually just grab the regular Lipton bags. I have had a couple of real losers that ended up watering the flower pots outside. I'm sure the flavor was improved after filtering through the potting soil, but I wasn't brave enough to try it.

Man, I remember making iced tea when i was a kid. We used to drink the hell out of that stuff.

Now I'm mormon. I kinda miss it and crave it at times like these.

I'm generally drinking Mountain Dew. However, tea is a must with chicken fried steak.

Here's how I do it:

"Honey, Could you make some icedtea?"

Not wanting to sound sexist but it turns out perfect every single time. Cindy has a dedicated sauce pan and trivet for boiling/steeping. And we have pitchers for lemonade, koolaid, and such and we have Tea Pitchers.

In a pinch, try Chicken Express or Sonic.

I put about 1/2 lb of sugar per gallon and I fill the jug/pitcher with ice instead of cold water.

And I thought for sure an Oldskool thread on Iced Tea would be a Long Island Iced Tea. :dunno:

One of the worst hang overs I EVER had was from drinking Long Island Iced Tea. :tsk: It was a great night though.

I still love the stuff for long evenings in the backyard or some place outside.

Take one bottle of gin, Bombay. It really should be Bombay, it's a well liquor, but it's classy as fuck. None of that sapphire crap, and stay the hell away from that crap in a green bottle that tastes like freshly washed socks. You take that gin, put it in a lunchbox, and you take it with you when you go to meet your congressman. The both of you get drunk in his office, and decide to hold an impromptu fundraiser. You get one of the secretaries to pull a few banners out of the fundraiser closet, then ride in the official use Denali to pick up another bottle. Throw it in the lunchbox, then go to the zoo. Pitch up outside the gate and shake hands with strangers. Decide it would be fun to borrow one of the trained sea lions for your fundraiser. Oops, forgot to tell zoo management. This could have gone a lot smoother. Now you've got your congressman stuck in the sea lion pen. That's a recipe for a fun day if I've ever heard one.

What were we talking about?

Y'all are doing it wrong.

Fill a pitcher with water.

Add 6-8 tea bags.

Take it out side with the lid on and let it bake in the sun all day.

Bring it back inside and add sugar.

Yeah,

that's all wussy tea...

Here's Brad's Turbo Tea...

This shit will wake your ass up in the morning...
I don't like coffee so this is my tea/coffee...

I really don't measure the sugar cuz I eye ball it,
Prolly close to a cup of sugar stirred into the water,
3 quarts of Hot Water...
I pour about 1/2 in a bowl and fire it up for 2.5 mins in a commercial micro wave...
I then add it back to the pitcher and add 12 regular Lipton or Lousianna tea bags, spun/twisted together,
regular tea bags cuz my wife likes hot tea and it saves us from buying two types of bags.
Once the water and tea bags are together,
Dip them mofo's up and down several times to get them really steeping, let sit for an hour or so then refrigerate.
The tea should be the color of coffee, a dark brown/light black, yea, I said light black...
Black like my C*ck...No, I won't send you a pic...
Just fill your glass with ice and pour the tea over it...
This is like Sweet Tea Base...
Lemon doesn't go with tea, unless your name is Arnold Palmer...
Mint? that's like adding raspberry...
Not in this house!
