My 325iX got hit tonight.

Fortunately it wasn't my M535i...some lady ran into my 1989 325ix at a stop sign on my way home from work.

It was a four way stop, I had the right of way and was halfway through the intersection when for some reason she just took off and ran right into my right rear quarter panel. I got spun around, went up on the curb and hit a stop sign. The quarter panel is caved in, but more seriously something bent or broke in the rear suspension; the wheel is at an odd angle and it makes a terrible clunking noise when I tried to move it. So, I had to get it hauled home on a flatbed.

Chances are it's totaled because of the damage, but at least I have another 325ix to drive, However, this was my good one. Now I get to fill out all the forms, call my insurance company, and see about getting a repair estimate. I'm hoping the suspension damage is something that can be repaired, if that can be fixed I figure I'll have to live with the mashed quarter panel.

Dang; I caught myself holding my breath, thinking it was the M535i that got nailed. Good to hear it wasn't, but still too bad about the good ix. Hope you get things sorted out with minimum fuss. :?

I hate four-way stops. The rules for using them are so flippin' simple, but so many people act so stupidly in them.

Glad you're ok. I seriously hope they don't total your car. I also seriously hope the EDIT: nice lady who hit you does some nice things to make it up to you.

The guy who was in traffic behind me pulled over and gave me his phone number. I just got off the phone with him a few minutes ago, and he totally agreed that she was at fault - I was fully into the intersection, right in front of her when she took off, and she said she didn't see my bright red car that was about six feet in front of her headlights. We asked her if she was texting and she denied it, but she had to be looking at the radio or her phone or something.

I guess driving was not the talent she performed for the competition.

Stuart, you don't often get opportunities like this, so you need to make the best of them.

When Miss South Dakota t-bones you in the rear quarter panel, you get out, make sure she's ok, explain that she has hit you and that you're pretty upset about the damage she did to your car ....

....and that you think a perfectly fair resolution is for you to return the favor, and to give her a t-boning her in her rear quarter panel :)

Sitania Syrovatka?

I Googled, she doesn't do much for me, honestly.

Sorry to hear about the car, accidents always suck.

If she hit your rear quarter panel, it's pretty obvious you were in the intersection first. I don't think you've got much to worry about when it comes to finding fault. Did she get a citation?

Dang it, sorry to hear, but glad it wasn't the M.
Best of luck in the settlement process.

I was just thinking how this would not only really suck in general if it was the M535i, but also how your spare NOS quarter is a left. Kinda that thing to rub it in.

LOL, I think you've hit on another point many here will agree on...a couple more of these and we'll be holding hands, singing Kumbaya.

Holy shit I also was holding my breath hoping it wasn't the M535i! Damn Stuart, sorry to hear, I just can't believe the stupidity of people.

A car is right in front of them with the right of way, but for some reason their brain says "it's our turn, hit the gas!".

I went back and changed the thread title, so no one will have a heart attack thinking it was my M535i. :)

I talked to my insurance company this morning, and within a few minutes they got hold of the other driver's insurance company and set up a claim. So, at least they're responsive on my side of the table.

Had to get my other 325ix out of storage to drive to work today; it was the first time I've driven it in about 8 months, so it was a little crabby for the first few miles. :) Seems to be getting settled back in now, though.
