I painted my exhaust

Post by L_N_Love »

I painted the back panel of my B&B muffler with flat black high temp paint. The big shiny stainless appearance bothered me.

I was debating on whether I wanted to do this with my car or not. Yours looks great.

I think I'll follow suit with the magnaflow.

I think you meant to say you Shadowlined your muffler. ;)

Looks good!

Looks good! I agree, shiny tips are fine but shiny mufflers look too flashy.

Looks good, sir. I did mine the same way some time ago. Found some high temp gray in a pint size can and will do the exhaust up to the manifold, as it looks pretty grim, compared to the rest of the bottom side. Got the idea from the 'burmester' pics he took of the 1984 M5 in Germany, such as this one. How does the rest of your exhaust look? :D

Great execution. I was thinking about something similar on my stock exhaust on the 533i until I put a magnaflow.

The rest is in good shape. VSR1 cat, E46 resonator, stainless B&B. Thanks Rod
Your car is awesome. I hope I get to see it and you again sometime.

That bottom part of the muffler was shiny stainless steel. I didn't look correct on an M5 and has been bugging me for quite a while. Thanks for the positive comments on my shade tree mod.

That's been my complaint about most stainless mufflers. In my opinion, it cheapens the look of the car. This was a very worthwhile project. Nice work and thank you for sharing it with us.

Would be good to see you again, too. I've been thinking about the NCCBMW Concours, as it'll be their 30th year and my 528e is 30 years old, so I may enter it in 2013. You coming north to this event? It would be great to see you again and to meet your M5 in person.
