I have seen this car and for those who like the W123 platform (and know the limitations of the 240D but appreciate it for what it is), this looks like a pretty solid daily driver/winter beater. Engine runs well (does not shake itself to death) and the manual transmission makes a big difference. Given that most of these 80s Mercs at this price point are either significantly rusted, or if not are exorbitantly expensive, this one looks right on the money for the price. Seller just got it MD safety inspected which is a big plus.

Mercedes 240D 1983. 289,000 miles. I have owned this beauty for 9 years. This is a 4 speed manual with a 2.4L diesel engine. This car has an reliable, solid engine and could run for another few hundred thousand miles. The fuel mileage is 31 mpg. There is a manual sunroof and Am/Fm cd player. Oil changes and other regular maintenance has been performed. Previous owner kept this in the garage. The floor boards and rocker panels are solid with very little body rust (see photos). This classic has a Maryland State Inspection Certificate.
VIN WBDAB23A5DB406105.
Price: $1600.

So many times I've wanted to pull the trigger on one, but it really isn't fun not being able to get out of people's way. There were 3 nice ones available locally this year, and I almost did it. One was manual everything. These made my Ford Aspire seem like a rocket ship.
