After switching my high mileage GMC over to synthetic upon advice of neighboring shop engine builder(developed significant lifter chatter ) I am considering possibly doing same with B7
Now I am a not broke don't fix it kinda guy but my pickup seems to love the switch thus my consideration of the switch, that an it's due for its annual change .
I know synthetic better suited with high engine heat as turbos produce.
I have been using VR1 20/50 since 2000 n Dinan used Castrol 20/50 up to my purchase.
Currently has 156k n a garage King. Comes out for about 750 miles a year and OH BOY, I put it thru its paces.

Pretty valuable now so more careful taking it out around a bunch of distracted drivers.
It has become a retirement tool.
Opinions?
Would benefits out weigh cons?

Why would you switch? How many miles/year do you put on the b7? How do you drive it? What are you expecting to gain?

Yea, at less than 1k miles/year on a non track vehicle, I see no advantage to synthetic other than more expensive oil changes. Just my $.02. I would send in some of your oil to blackstone when you change your oil next. That should give you a better idea if it's needed.

The correct engine oil for the B7 Turbo is the TWS 10w60. Alpina developed it with Castrol for this specific application.

Interesting, that's pretty cool.

So I'm assuming your using it?
I did not know Alpina n Castrol worked together on that. Cool info.
Did your car have that that in it when you got it or did you switch over? Any noticible differences?

My car since 86 when Dinan started service on the car had used Castrol 20/50 Dino so that's what I've been using since I've had it . I just switched over to the V1 for added zddp. Although I do have the Castrol TWS sticker on my air box? That's why I've been contemplating switching.
