I have never seen these type of seats, are these OEM Euro Spec or is this some sort of custom aftermarket pattern?

Aftermarket. Looks like someone turned over their BMW and a roll of blue velour Maserati's interior design team.

Custom would be my guess...80's American car vibe.

Hard to hate sport seats, but I'm pretty close to hating it. Like, in the ballpark of hating it. If they were purple I would definitely hate it.

80's? The sport seat part excepted of course, but it looks more 50's to me.

I'll put a little softer no on it, I've never seen it before in an E28, but the color is close or correct to some BMW colors and BMW did some quirky things on special order.

Owner claims that the car is all original including the seats, not sure about that. I have never seen them either.

John, to my sensitivities, Those diamonds in the 760 and the Merc, in no way resemble the sewing on the OP's seats. Neither of the old BMWs ever came outta the Black Forest with that upholstery. Sorry OP, those seats are right up there with square headlight kits.

Just had a thought. Maybe that is just a really nice seat cover on original seats so the guy wasn't exactly telling an untruth.

Doubtful. You might find a build sheet attached to the bottom of the rear seat cushion with some details.

They can claim originality all they want, it won't make it so.

I saw that exact upholstery in a Cheech & Chong movie.
