I've been a silent participant for several months and have really enjoyed solving a lot of problems by reading through the different forums/topics. Thanks to everyone for sharing all their knowledge.
I've owned my 88 535is for a couple of months (recently drove from SD to SLO on mainly backroads for the dove opener) and am now getting around to some post-purchase maintenance and cleaning.
So here is my issue...
The engine was swapped in my car before I purchased it. It appears the bolt where G103 is attached to the engine was shaved down (reason unknown). The shop that installed the new motor attached G103 to another place on the engine (photos below).
Is this an appropriate place to bolt G103 to the motor or should it go somewhere else? I am having some cranking issues while starting the motor and some wonky tach issues as well. I figured I would start with cleaning and tightening all the ground straps before diving in deeper. I found the "relocation" of G103 while doing the work.
Thanks in advance.
