M5 front sway bar mount brackets available!

Post by pramono »

All,

Throughout the past few months, I've been working on creating a reproduction of the M5's front sway bar mounting bracket. This is almost an exact reproduction of the original mounting bracket, save for the addition of using a 0.5mm thicker zinc-plated high carbon steel (slightly thicker than the original). While I am aware that there are other methods of installing a bigger sway bar, such as Ireland Engineering's method, this is more to represent a factory-like upgrade to all non-M5 E28s out there. In addition, Dinan had also used the M5's sway bar mounting bracket as part of their suspension upgrade system for E28s, back when it was available.

These are meant to be a replacement to 41 11 2 230 014 and are to be used with the M5 sway bar bushing (31 35 2 226 001) and fits the 25mm front sway bar. The sway bar mounting bracket is to be welded to the chassis rail; this is to be used in place of your existing sway bar mounting bracket. Spacing-wise, they are about 25mm away from where the thrust arm mounts are located.

They are zinc plated to prevent corrosion until you weld and undercoat (wherever welded) the mounting bracket.
The mounting bracket (the one you will need to weld to the rail) is $68 for the pair.
The clamp, while still available from BMW (though around $25 each), is available from us for $35 for the pair.
A set of both the bracket and clamp will be $103, with installation hardware (bolts & washers) included. The mounting brackets do not come with any bushings.
All prices do not include shipping,

You can either contact me via PMs here, or you can purchase them through my website: PRDesignSF
