Hey guys, I have gotten an nos tstat unit from Germany for my rebuild and intend to have a number reproduced, lookin at batches of 5 at a time and looking at a price of 500 usd shipped per unit. If a group for example were to go for 3 or more I would be able to do 450 per unit as we could group the shipping. Thanks for your time.

Unfortunately I'm profoundly unaffected personally not having a M88/S38 car, but you might consider posting in the M5 / M535i subforum. They're more likely to have a need.

I'm tempted by this. Does anyone know how these fail? I have holes in the part of the housing that connects to certain hoses, I guess the coolant eats away at the aluminum over time, but the rest of the housing is fine. I bead blasted the inside of it about 7 years/20k miles ago, it's currently apart in my garage and looks just as clean. These seem to age very slowly. I can see the holes possibly getting bad enough it doesn't seal anymore, but can't I get those holes welded for much cheaper than $450?

On my M5 I had trouble dissembling the unit because the bolts got corroded into place and one head sheared off. I was able to recover the part but I suspect that is much of the problem just with normal age and lack of disassembly and/or antiseize.

I got my thermostat from Neil yesterday. No issues, it's the real deal. Shipping to CA was a few days. Very easy transaction and seller was super responsive
