Valve Clearances - correct camshaft position

I'm trying to adjust valve clearances, first time doing so and already having doubts.
Can't seem to find OT position for the first cylinder, Camshaft always seems to be at a angle corner and not pointing up how I imagined.
Looked through all the manuals and no luck

oh and one quick question about exhaust part if that's to be adjusted at the same time as intake or to turn the engine over until camshaft is in in the right position for exhaust?

I just did mine by eye. Make sure the bumpy part of the cam is pointing somewhere generally skyward and you'll be fine. You can find an area where both lobes on the cylinder are away from the rocker to let you do both on a cylinder at a go. If in doubt, just do one at a time with the pointy bit pointing straight away from the head.

The Ford manual is basically identical but maybe the description is clearer.
