The ///M on the trunk of the M535i was standard for the car, but it could be deleted at the request of the party ordering the car. To see if your car came with one, and the ///M on the grille (was this on the M535i E28 like on the E12), you can check the build sheet for your car. It may still be located under the rear seat or is available at the dealer, just ask the parts guys to print one for you. They should be on-line with BMW AG to access this info. The delete code is SA 320, No exterior badges.

another question... the tag on the inside of my door says M535I/A ...what's A? automatic? i dunno... one my friends tells me my car is not a true M and doesn't deserve and M emblem, because it doesn't have an m engine. does it have the us the 635 csi engine?

...thanks for answering

i/iA just means that the same sticker was used for both manual and automatic equipped cars.

If your car is a true M535i then tell you friend to f#$k off. If BMW put the badge on then it deserves to wear it.

If he doesnt like it, tell him to take it up with BMW AG. By the way, what does he drive?

Yup, there's an ///M on the rear deck, one on the front grille, and (at least on my car) one on each front fender, right behind the wheelwell. Some M535's have a side indicator light in that spot, I believe.

The handle under the steering wheel allows the wheel to be moved in and out. It is the lock for that movement. What is the VIN of your car, that will tell us if it is an M or not.

ha, that sucks... so it's pretty much a fake m535i. does it have the same engine? ...and why does it have an m535i sticker?

It is the same engine as all M535i that came with a cat. this is the same engine as the US 535i and 535is.
