VIN question
[QUOTE="ddstl"]I'm checking out a 1985 M535i, VIN WBADC710600641277. Dirty motor?
VIN decoder says no catalyst, but still not sure if HC or not.
Thanks for the help

DC71 is the sequence for a HC M535i. The Kat (LC) version is DC51. Unless the engine has been altered, you're lookin at a high comp engine.

Yes - he has an awesome collection of cars.
I spoke to the original seller (in Hstn) who spoke of some wacky 125 mph
bmw powered go cart -
just insane....
I'm just glad someone from the board picked it up.
Keep us posted on your experience !
I'd like to see how the original m535i stacks up against your B35 powered 535i.

I'll be a posting fool once I take posession of this thing, rest assured!!
I'm sad to have to sell the B35 car--it's been such a cool project, and an absolute blast to drive. I'll probably have my hands full for awhile with the new toy. Thanks for the good words. you know the previous owner of the car?

The M535i is now in my driveway! It's a fun car to drive around town, but it's not ready to be taken on a trip of any distance yet. I took my red, 1987 535is with 115k(then) and an automatic to Florida. That car has made the trip twice within the last four months!! It is an amazing example of reliability! When I had my black 535i with 215k, I drove that one everywhere and used the red car sparingly. I had to sell my daily driver when the M535i came along. Now I have a decision to make: drive the M535i daily(interior/paint in rougher shape than the red car), or relegate the red 'is' into daily driver duty while I work on the M535i.

Jerry,
You'll get more responses if you start a new thread under the "For Sale/Wanted" section. There's almost always someone on the board who would be interested in an M535i, and in there, someone's sure to see it!
