Guys,

I am discouraged. I realize it took me over a year to find my M535i (that is now wrecked) but I hope to not spend that long to find a replacement.

I need to find a good M535i to replace mine. Preferrably Arctisblau Metallic, like mine, but I will look at others. Lachsilber Metallic would be my next choice.

Requirements would be:

1) No major accidents
2) Clean, straight body panels and lines
3) Good paint, original color (don't care if repainted if it was done well)

I thought to have found one, but have not seen it in person and the first report from a trusted source is that it is probably not clean enough for me (exterior).

If any of you see something, please let me know. I don't want to have to do a completely tear-down and respray, and am hoping to find one that has good paint already.

Thanks guys.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but did you buy TT's M5, Bryan? If so, what does he drive, now?

Wow, I've really been gone a long time if I can't keep up with everyone's ownership anymore!

Yup, Bryan joins the small (but fierce) group of euro M5s. As for TT...he just sold his 1983 Slantnose 911 and is carless except for the Nathanmobile and an e30 convertible. Well, I take that back, he does have an M535i....a temporary car.

Clayton: What do you want to spend? Would you consider a non-metallic color?

if i'm spending 5K+, it had better have good paint.

if I have to repaint it, i'm planning on $3k - $3,500 for paint, so the price had better be good.

I'm not thrilled about non-metallic colors, but as time goes by I am becoming more open-minded.

Hallelujah, hip hip hooray!

I've found a car I will be buying. This situation is perfect for both the seller and me. He's got a STRAIGHT M535i in Artisblau Metallic at the shop ready for paint - it's just the shell, mind you - no drivetrain, but he wants out and I want in.

The price is right. My wrecked M535i is sitting in the garage where she should be, waiting for her newly painted brother to arrive so she can donate her organs before I put her down. It will be a happy and sad day - but mostly happy.

Now I just need to find a beater to drive during the swap. I don't care what it is if it has a roundel on the hood. I was thinking about finding the cheapest E30 I can that runs and drive the living hell out of it. I think it will take 3-6 months to complete the project once the paint on the new M535i is done.

Damn this feels good. If you find any leads on any cheap but driveable Bimmers west of Colorado shoot me a line, I could use the extra sets of eyes.

Here we go!! YESSSSSSS!

Congrats Clay! Just think of all the little bits and pieces you've always wanted to put on your old car, this will be a snap with just a shell. Now you are going to have a brand new car.

Keep us posted.

Congrats Clay! You deserve it. I can't think of a better situation for you after Granny had severe brain fade and pummeled your baby. Merry Christmas.

A beater?

What's wrong with the current M3? You're not keeping that in the garage all winter are you?

Would you drive an E46 M3 on Utah's salted winter snowy roads? Let me expound on this- my M535i had RUST on the accident damage within 4 days of the accident. The exposed metal gets ripped right through by the salt on the roads - you are literally taking your car for a salt bath if you drive it in the Utah winter. :(

Now I'm driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee but I want to pick up an E30 325ix with some mean snow tires. That would be sick.
