I drove the e28 today for a few miles. Actually squeezed the throttle enough to get 9/10psi and it felt awesome. The car works so much better with the automatic it's amazing. I know you all think I am nuts but it really is much better. I hope to get this thing finished by mid March.

Both. With an auto you don't lose boost between shifts and you can build boost at the starting line. Generally a stock automatic will still be slower, but with a good converter and some work on the tranny itself they have more potential.

The converter is the key! Even with my dirty, cold drag radials I was able to get 2700-2800 out of the converter. I suspect it'll give at least 3000rpm under better conditions.

I expect to build boost prior to the launch. My boost controller has launch control as well as boost settings for each gear. It's going to make this car amaizng at the dragstrip!

When does the dragstrip open?

I'm going to be going myself as soon as I can, usually it's in late March/early April that they have the first runs.

Yeah, well unfortunately I might now have the slowest car of all my friends. Pat's got that GTO and my other 'car' friend just bought a 330rwhp C5.

Either way it should be interesting to see what it can do. If I had to guess, I'd say with some good driving (I'm certainly NOT used to this IRS thing) I might dip into the 13s. My Mustang made the same rwhp numbers and was a little lighter and was good for 13.7 @ 104 or so. I'd expect a bit slower for the E34 with the same power.

Well, you'll likely be faster than the GTO. And I also expect that you'll have alot more power by April. 11psi with water injection should give you abt 320rwhp.
