My first real KILL in my M535Ti..
What I mean by first real kill is, took out some American V8 iron this morning. Hard to do in Germany.
I have noticed this guy who has a late mode Formula Firebird that is always gunning it on post and I am sure believes he has the fastest car on the road. I have about a 7 mile drive to work on nice rural roads.
This morning I spy this guy in his black firebird up in front of me. I proceed to catch up slowly and am approaching him at my favorite part of the road. It is a long straight up hill climb for about mile with plenty of visability. About 300 meters In front of the firebird is a little German econo-box. As I approach the firebird I can hear him start to accelerate by the very loud exhaust he is running. I am in 3rd gear at about 3000 rpm, perfect for quick spool. I floor it, instant 8 psi (max right now for engine break-in) and very quickly close the gap as I hear him floor it. I then switch to the left lane and easily pass him while giving him a good by wave. This all happens before interference from the econo-box. I hit 6000 rpm (remember, engine break-in) shift to 4th and keep it just about floored with 8 psi. I easily continue to walk/run away from him and then shut it down at around 120 mph and him a long way back.
Wow..that was fun!!!! The old E28 4-door whooped his butt. Just wait until I am running 20 psi!!!!

TEC3 is and will stay at the stock 6800 RPM. Believe me, I will distroy 95% of the cars out there well below 6000 RPM.bahnstormer wrote:what would the limiter be set at after breakin?

Duke:
I am so happy for you! You have taken that car from a sure demise and turned it into the "Blue Beast". I can't wait to see it in person. Congrats to you, buddy. I am sure it was well worth the wait. Keep us informed when you are able to reach 20psi. That scares me and I am fearless (said someone)! Thanks for the Firechicken story too, you know that guy was scratchin his melon!

I will....................remember I am qualified to fly the AH-64 Apache Helicopter and its two engines have 6400 shaft horse power combined. I have PLENTY of respect for HP. That baby will kill you in a heart beat.rundatrack wrote:20psi....hmmmm

Duke, your car looks incredibly bad ass in the picture, but I spied an unpolished exhaust tip. Just giving you crap. It really does look awesome.
I sent you an email with my info for when you get to Va. As the time approaches, we can put the word out to anyone in the DC/NoVa area. We will be installing a TCD S2 system on my car and anyone who wants to help, watch or learn more about the system is welcome to come by.

Duke-
Car looks awesome, I must say..
Ive strung a Formula out before in the 745i a month ago, coming home from D.C. on Rt. 50.. At the next light, he pulled up to me and rolled down his window.. His only question was "What the Hell is THAT ??
So the light turned green, and his five speed left me at the light, but at about 2800, the power came in and I went by him so quick, I could have probably struck a match on the door! And this is stock, I can only imagine the G's yours pulls!!!
BTW, I was 67Y MOS, 84-88, then changed MOS to 19K in '88..
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA AMERICAN CARS SUCK.
You have a chipped '87 535i and you're blasting American cars in general? Anyone who knows how to build a small chevy worth two squirts of piss could hand 98% of the cars on this board their ass. Shit, my FRONT WHEEL DRIVE FOUR BANGER COMMUTE BITCH SAAB 9-3 AERO with a chip and exhaust could probably obliterate most of the Turbo BMW's on this board, and that's simply a Chevy Ecotec with a Mitsusucky turbo on it. Worse yet, in full race build & tune with nothing but FACTORY PARTS, that little four banger puts out 960hp. Engines are engines and cars are cars. Period. There's no Grr-man voodoo associated with BMW's that makes them somehow uniquely badass anymore than there's something magical about a Supra 2JZGTE. They're all engines, they all have issues that are at the root of their ultimate destruction in the long run and all of those embedded flaws and positive traits are what makes them interesting to build. That's why It's FUN! But without some common respect, NOTHING is fun.
People like you make people like me look like a de facto jackass when I show up to the track or the car show or the 7-11 in my BMW and say 'nice car' to someone in a Trans-Am Javelin Clone or any other damn nice American car. Hell, yesterday I saw a Toyota HiLux with house paint in the bed that had a Toyota Indy-Lite motor in it with a yamaha head and twin 50mm sidedraft webers on it. Twin spark, damn little thing sounded like a sewing machine.
So hey, show a little respect for the rest of the automotive world, or someday the day WILL come when somebody notices that you think you're 'racing' them and decides to hand you a quarter pound of embarassment pie. Just hope it's an F-Body and not a Toyota HiLux, Fiat 124 Sedan or GOD FORBID a Cavalier!
Duke, congrats on spankin' the Formula Poncho. Just like I'm saying above, everybody needs that lesson!

I hate to break it to you Jason but the weakest turbo e28 has more than enough power to dispatch your Saab even with a chip and exhaust. You obviously have yet to get your 3.0 CS running yet or you would now this.

The SAAB's with a steg 3 chip, downpipe and exhaust could probably do more than you think. it's over 300hp and 300tq at the wheels in a 2800lb car. It can't hook up at the drags, but I didn't know that was our only test bed. Now if you really want to tango, a well prepared 1st Gen 9-3 is running 9's over in sweden, and it's a road course car too.. Still on four slugs. My CS will be on the road soon enough. My point wasn't to get into a pissin match, more to let folks know that a) the fun of racing cars is borne out of the respect you have for the competition and b) you NEVER know what you're going to run up against on the track or the street.
And plus, it just irks me that every time I go to talk to one of my brothers or sisters with a nice american hot rod, they think i'm some snob because of what i drove up in. It's because people say shit like 'American CARS SUCK!' with no qualifying remarks or knowledge.
My CS is coming along well. I've got some er...interesting... parts that I machined for it recently. You'll see.....soon enough.

I realise that I carry no weight on the board but I have to agree with griffith, my previous "toy" was a Ram Air V prepped 70 Formula with functional Ram air and DNE 5 Speed. Somewhere in excess of 550 Hp. I think I could have at least played in the same street with Duke, but I now have a love for this M6 I got, not because it is not "American" because it is a "new" toy to play with. Never in my life (20 plus American muscle cars) would I have imagined owning a "Foreign" car. I just have respect for what a person builds, no matter what it is. I have loved the thrill of each one individually. Love spanking the unsuspecting, but have been spanked as well.

Sorry but no way that is getting +120rwhp with a chip, downpipe and exhaust. They already run big boost from the factory.

Todd,
Like I said, my point wasn't to get into a pissin match. Period. You obviously know more about my commute bitch than I do.
Unlike your earlier comment, I don't hate to break it to you, in fact I'm elated to break it to you - thanks for reminding me why I didn't like to come play in the sandbox with you. You like to treat everyone here like they're your minions, and when they have new inventive ideas, you shit on them, and when they have questions you try to sell them something.
Fortunately for me, I ain't your meal ticket.

Are you fucking kidding me? You come to the e28 FI forum and talk smack. You give obvoius BS information and I call you on it. You get upset and start calling me names. That's pathetic Jason. I am starting to wonder why I spend hours of my time sharing what information I have with others only to be slapped in the face. It's happened more than once now.
You don't remember the numerous telephone calls we had when you asked for information and advice on building a m30 turbo. Remember that you actually sent me emails trying to sell me stuff for your side business? I never tried to sell you anything because you made it clear that you could do it all yourself.
I am all about inventive ideas. Why the hell do you think I(we) did this TCD thing? It certainly wasn't soley about the money.
So next time you lash out at someone be prepared to take it right back. As I recall you appeared here and talked smack., not me.
Geez,
Todd

Hey TCD, don't worry about the big talking troll... I can happily call bullshit on his 180hp Alfa Spider... In Euro tune (cams and headers and no cat) that car put out 135hp. Adding dual 40mm carbs will bring you up MAYBE to 160. And it's nearly impossible to pull 250lbs out of a spider and still drive it. Plastic seats and no interior or top would get you down to 2300.
